As far as I know, the 1841 and 1851 Census reports for Megantic (and for some other areas) are missing and not available. Others, ie, 1825, 1831, 1861, 1871 etc. are available. Douglas, could you check your listings in the Dairy Valley Cemetery for a Francois Lecuyer (died 1903) and a Julia Guerin Lecuyer(died unknown). My Great Grandparents. We were in Henryville and Clarenceville back in 1990 but couldn't find a grave for either of them. Thanking you in advance for any help. Gwen Lakeway Emery Don't judge folks by their relatives.
That's been my experience. It seems for Shefford we are out of luck. Although it's very time consuming, you may find what you need by searching the Drouin Collection on Ancestry.com. For each year go directly to the last image; generally there is an index although it may be too faint to read. If it says baptism only, you then have to look at each image if you want marriages or deaths. I have been through most of that area but didn't keep an index of other names. Carl, I have a William H. Shepherd in my family tree. According to his death record, he was born at Avery's Gore, VT, 4 April 1848. William's parents were Peleg Shepherd (b. England) and Caroline Soule/Sowles (b. Canada). Possibly any connection to your William? William H. Shepherd served in the Civil War for Vermont. Look forward to hearing from you. --------------------------------- Food fight? Enjoy some healthy debate in the Yahoo! Answers Food & Drink Q&A.

I couldn't locate anybody by that name on the 1851 census. Did this person marry Esther Melinda Frary? If so, his name is Charles William, and he was 6 years old in 1851. But he was not on pg. 110, but on pg. 35. Maybe I have a different person. Recently someone asked about Inverness newspapers. There were three that I am aware of. The Megantic Argus was edited by A D Campbell about 1867. The Inverness Review was started on July 1 1887 and was published about 3 years. The Megantic mentioned above refers to Megantic County and not the Lake Megantic area. I have been unable to locate any copies of the above mentioned newspapers. The Megantic Edition of the Montreal Gazette was edited by Rev H A Dickson. It was published from 1899 to 1910. Marlene (Pope) Carpentier recently sent me the following clippings from various papers concerning the above families. (Please watch for errors etc. as I had to retype them as they were to faint to scan.) I would be pleased to receive and share additional family information on these and other families from the Richmond, Quebec area.
