Perhaps I "Philipsburg" - just on the U.S.A. border on the eastern edge of Lake Champlain. Follow I-89 north past Swanton and the customs post is actually marked St. Armand. St. Armand West was incorporated as Philipsburg in the 1840's - I think 1846 but not sure. A good detailed map will still show St. Armand East and often shows St. Armand as the name associated with Philipsburg.

Hi all, I have a baptismal record that says St Armand QC. I looked on a Quebec map for St. Armand, but I could not find it. Could someone please tell me if this is a place in Quebec and approximately where it is located. Perhaps I am reading this wrong and it stands for a church in Quebec City. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Sharon
I recently received some information on the Mother of Eliza Jane THOMAS. A Church Warden of the St George Anglican Church in Drummondville informed me that her Mothers name was Sarah Jane FRENCH. Sarah Jane French married John E. Thomas bef 1853. Their children are: Mary Anne Thomas, b. Sept. 13, 1853 Sarah Jane Thomas, b. Oct. 14, 1856 George Willam B. Thomas, b. Dec. 4, 1858 Emma Thomas, b. Dec. 26, 1861 Eliza Jane Thomas b. 11 Oct 1864 Charlotte Maria Thomas, b. July 31, 1866 Margaret Isabella May Thomas, b. Sept. 12, 1868 John David Alexander Thomas, b. Feb. 7, 1871 James Albert Reuben Thomas, b. Sept. 6, 1872 Walter Talbot Thomas, b. June 12, 1875 Edith L. Thomas, b. Dec. 19, 1877 Robert Edwin Thomas, b. June 20, 1880 I thought I would send this to the list on the chance that someone else may be looking for some of this Thomas line. Eliza Jane Thomas married George Edwin Combs at the above named Church May 23 1887 and the church record had her residence as from the neighboring county of Simpson. I hope this new information helps someone. ___________________________________

This may be one of the British Home Children. The census of 1891 in Barnston has an Abram Foot age 23 born in England. I have wondered how many other young men who worked on farms have people looking for information about them and people don't know where to look. This young man was living with the family of Chester Cleveland and his wife Mary Ann Harran. Joyce

Greetings All. This afternoon I received a communication that indicated that the report of the Expert Panel on release of Historic Census records will be presented "SHORTLY" rather than waiting until the mandated date of 31 May 2000. I have sent an e-mail to Dr. Pamela White, secretariat of the Expert Panel, expressing concern that if this is so, many submissions that have not yet been sent, including my own, would not be received and considered by the Panel. The original deadline for submissions, as given me by Dr. White, was 1 May 2000. I have asked Dr. White to respond IMMEDIATELY advising as to the current status regarding presentation of the report of the Expert Panel. I will advise her response. If there has been no email response from her by morning I will be telephoning her. The upshot of all this is, if you have not yet sent your submission to the Expert Panel, DO IT NOW!!! Gordon A.
