    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Quebec records
    2. Bob - The archives website I'm talking about is the National Archives of Canada, Internet address www.archives.ca, so the same one you have ordered from. I'm researching Booths, Jones and Heatherington ancestors from 1800s in Dunham, Shefford, West Shefford, Cowansville, and Farnham. Am interested in borrowing microfilm with census and church records. Thanks for your help, Christine chirokas@tiac.net wrote: > I'm relatively new at research in the Eastern Townships and am interested > in ordering microfilm from the Quebec Archives through inter-library loan. > I looked on the archives' Website and found information on how to order, > but nothing on how to find what microfilm is available. Could you post it please and I'll be happy to take a look. In the past I've been able to order films from the Canadian National Archives through ILL. More importantly though, which materials are you looking for? Bob

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] The Myths of Census & LCCCC Site
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all listers:- Many genealogists, historians and ordinary family researchers like myself use the Canadian census records for verification of family facts. In many cases, these records are the only source other than wills and deeds, as many denominational records are sealed. In many cases, these have not been kept or have been burned. Gordon A. Watts has spent many hours researching THE MYTHS OF CENSUS, a very professional bit of research for all to study. Senator Lorna Milne has already used a great deal of Gordon Watts' research in her recent speeches, which you will find printed in Hansard. This is one way of keeping the census matter alive while we wait for the report by May 31, 2000 from the appointed Expert Panel. For those who want to learn more about THE MYTHS OF CENSUS, all except the copyright data has been posted on two sites, to date. LCCCC <http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/7843/poll.html> This URL bookmarks as Post 1901, with present reader number 12458. Go to THE MYTHS OF CENSUS by Gordon A. Watts. This will take you to <http://www.waynecook.com/census.html> Wayne Cook has this posted on the CAN-ONT-SIMCOE-L@rootsweb.com list Tune into the Global Genealogy's Gazette -- print it if you like: <http://GlobalGazette.net/gazce/gazce53.htm> Happy reading!! Any comments??? We would love them!!! Send to either of the following: Muriel M. Davidson <davidson3542@home.com> Gordon A. Watts <gordon_watts@telus.net>

    2. roberta kerr
    3. Bob Carr Thank you for letting us know of the passing of George Skilling. I don't know or didn't know of the gentleman, but I offer my sympathy to you in you loss. Do you know anything of Mr. Skilling's files? Had he been working with the Richmond Historical Society and/or the Richmond Museum? In preparation for a KERR Family Festival scheduled for July 27, 28, 29, 2001, I will be visiting the Richmond area during July and August. There are KERR descendants still in the area and elsewhere who have done extensive research in Scotland as well as in Richmond County. Do you have any recommendations for me as to particular people and places to visit with KERR research my goal? The KERRs arrived in Quebec in 1867 and established a homestead at 1244 Spooner Pond Road which building still stands today but is not owned by KERRs. There were ten children born from 1861 to 1881. Its the whereabouts of these ten children and their descendants that I will be looking for. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Regards Roberta KERR Turner Valley, Alberta, Canada

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Sherburne
    2. Barbara Lewis
    3. I am still looking for a clue in finding the parents of Samuel SHERBURNE, born 1800 in Northern VT or in the Eastern Twps of Quebec. We have searched VT with a fine toothed comb and have come to the conclusion that his family went over the border into VT before 1800. I have received help from kind people on this list a year ago, but in following up all the leads, have been unable to find Samuel. My cousin Linda Hackney and I are working together on this.... If anyone has any new ideas of records that have come forth in the past year, I would appreciate knowing about it. His birth has to be SOMEWHERE! 3. I would just like encourage "donations" to the ET Anglo Archives! I finally got around to scanning my marvelous YOUNG Bible entries and have managed to upload my MOTT-SCOTT-SALLS Bible entries as well. They look so much much better in color, but they take so long to load that I rescanned them as B&W. I also have 1901 census entries for Tingwick, Cleveland and Shipton coming soon!! A generous subscriber, Russel Saffin, has sent me his transcriptions and I will try to ready them for the web this week. I'm home "sick" so this gives me added opportunity! If you have resources posted on your own site, or you would like to make available something you have transcribed, please let me know! 3. Dale I distinctly recall the name of the company as Spencers. The name Spirella sounds like it could easily be the name of one of their product lines, so the possibility of the connection seems strong. Spirella sounds so much better than, say, Spencer's Secret.
