    2. tfeeney
    3. Am new to the list, but believe some of my ancestors may have come for the region. Surnames are Gardner, Foss, Bartlett, Bangs, Sleeper, Hitchcock (Turcotte), Currier, and Mizo. Mostly in the early 1800's. Have found them in the northern part of Vermont, but am unbable to trace them back from there, so am kind of putting out feelers for surrounding areas. Thanks for any info that might shed some light on these families. 3. I received the following note, and thought it may interest some.. Bill - -----Original Message----- From: Terry Skeats [mailto:tskeats@Hera.ubishops.ca] Sent: Wednesday, May 10, 2000 11:23 AM To: William Ayer Cc: skeats@linterlinx.qc.ca Subject: Hatley History Hi Bill; Just a short note to thank you for the various pieces you've sent over the past several months, and to let you know that Phyllis' history of Hatley Village and Hatley Township will be launched officially this Saturday at the St. James Church parish hall (the old Academy) in Hatley. If anyone is interested, the price is $25.00 Canadian (or $20.00 US, which includes postage); cheques or money orders should be made out to Phyllis Skeats and sent to her at Box 387, North Hatley, Quebec, Canada J0B 2C0. Would you pass the word along to your various listservs and other groups; it's a very well-researched book with a lot of information in it, and I think will be a good resource for people who want to know something about the area (she has included more than 100 colour photographs to accompany the text). Thanks for your help; hope to see you in this area sometime. *************************************** ********************************* * Terry Skeats, * * phone: 819-822-9600 ext.2604 * * Acquisitions/Reference Librarian, * * fax: 819-822-9644 * * John Bassett Memorial Library, * * e-mail: tskeats@ubishops.ca * * Bishop's University, * ********************************* * Lennoxville, Quebec, Canada J1M 1Z7 * ***************************************

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Williams
    2. Anna Kinley
    3. I am looking for information on the family of Laura Donaldson Williams b. about 1804 possibly in Bolton, Shefford Co. The only truly solid pieces of information I have on her is her marriage HUNT, John (bach. of Bolton), mar. WILLIAMS, Laura (spin. of Shefford), on 3 Mar 1823 in Shefford (C of E). and her burial in Athens(Farmersville) Cemetery, Leeds Co. Dec. 15, 1850. I am not sure if the Donaldson part of her name is a 'second name' or a name from an earlier marriage. Her mother may have been named Fanny, possibly Frances, and is supposed to have come from Ireland. She may have had a sister Betsy who married a Gurlick (Garlick?) and possibly a brother Peter who is recorded in the 1825 census for Bolton. I have no idea just how firmly rooted the family was in Shefford or if I should be looking in other areas of the Eastern Townships. Any assistance with the WILLIAMS family or the HUNT family will be most appreciated! Cheers, Anna Kinley

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Apologies...
    2. Pam Wood Waugh
    3. I just wanted to drop a line of apology to many of you who have written in the past few weeks. First I was swamped with one thing, then my son's water polo tournaments. Just when I thought I was seeing my way clear, this doggone "ILOVEYOU" worm hit my e-mail servers at work last week. Since I'm e-mail administrator there, I have put in every bit of free time keeping the servers up and running...we're plodding along but not doing well. Our school district has a lot of folks with very little e-mail savvy, who will click on any foolish attachment sent their way (and with 120,000 employees, we have a huge percentage who don't read -- just CLICK!) Anyway, please bear with me -- hopefully, we will be done cleaning up soon. My mother comes in on Thursday for a 2 weeks visit, and my son graduates on Wednesday, ....blah, blah, blah. The list doesn't stop. I do PROMISE that materials sent to me to be posted to the website WILL be posted HOPEFULLY before Thursday afternoon. And, in particular, to Pennie -- your contributions to the list are always very appreciated, as well as interesting. Please keep up the great work! Love those newspaper entries. I have always found scanning old papers S-O enlightening! The only problem is that I always start copying down so much that I never get very far ;-) Hope to be posting material soon --- Pam ************************************************** Pam Wood Waugh moodies@magicnet.net 730 Dunhill Dr or waughp@ocps.k12.fl.us Orlando, FL 32825 Quebec GenWeb Eastern Townships Research site: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/3500/et.html Family Lines: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/3500 Listowner for COVEY-L, SALLS-L, TRYON-L, WAUGH-L and QC-ETANGLO-L

    3. Jay Champion Butt away!!! That's what genealogy and these maillists are about...I like to think. What better way to discover a long lost cousin. I only wish we could make a connection. There are no CLOWES so far that we have discovered. Some of the names we have--some still living--so will give only surnames. The following are all connected to KERR and are from coast to coast and beyond. BARRETT BECK BIRD BLACKADDER CRACK DRIVER FINDLAY FRANK GALLUP GARDNER HISLOP KILEY PATTERSON PURDIE SANGSTER SPENCER WARD WAY There are many KERRs and as well, many of the KERRs in our line never married and/or never had children. Have a look...you just may find someone. Regards Roberta KERR

All I have is this: > > Amsden, Amos married Abigail Dustin > Stanstead, Tuele, Canada > > Any help is appreciated. > Karen in Florida There's very little chance of finding an actual marriage record unless they were possibly married in NH and you can find town records that note the marriage. Do you have this from the History of Stanstead County: Amos AMSDEN, b. in Henniker, NH, Sept 10, 1792 - m. Abigail DUSTAN, b. in Dorchester, NH, Aug 19, 1793. They settled at Stanstead Plain in 1819. She d. June 18, 1852. They were members of the Weslayan Church. Children: Hiram A., b. March 28, 1818 - m. Sara Hill Frederick A., b. Sept 23, 1823 - m. Adelaide Thomas Abbie A.. b. Nov 29, 1828 - m. William Sharp Caroline A., b. April 25, 1835 - m. Edward Sharp Two children died young. If you are sure they married in 1817, then that predated their arrival in Stanstead Plain and you might want to see if there are records for Henniker, Dorchester, or places nearby. Check the LDS for microfilms. Bob
