Joyce, I don't think there is a "Scotchtown." There is, however, a Scotstown, just due north of the New Hampshire border. George Joyce Hummel wrote: > Can someone tell me where Scotchtown is? > > Joyce
Can someone tell me where Scotchtown is? Joyce

This site was sent to me by another list member, You might want to check out the info that it has about some fraudulent pedigrees and family trees. This is good info to know while researching for your ancestors. Just wanted you all to know about this. List: Fraudulent pedigrees compiled by Gustave Anjou are listed here (scroll down first web page link) http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/fraud/fraud.htm If any of your source material contains references to his works, or family histories compiled from his works, then you are more than likely on the wrong track. These 'genealogies' have made their way into libraries, repositories, AND the Family History Library. Be sure to read the introduction on each of the three main web pages. It is sobering material. This is one example why every 'fact' gathered from compiled material (read web site, book, maillist, etc.) should be accompanied by a source citation....so we can check it out for ourselves! My 2nd great-grandmother, Drusilla (Bigford Cutler) Kenison was born 15 Nov 1820 in the Eastern Townships. I've been looking for her under the name Drusilla Kenison (her parents were David Kension and Mary Allard), but she was married under the name Drusilla Bigford Cutler (spinster). Until recently, I had her birth date in 1824, but have now found her grave which puts it in 1820. The Kenisons were married in 1823 and had another child born early in 1825 (which has always put a question mark beside Drusilla's birth date). I'm thinking she was, perhaps, adopted by the Kenisons. Maybe not an official adoption, since she used her birth(?) name when she got married, but at least the Kenisons cared for her. She married Frederick Kenny 18 Jan 1842 in Stukely, Shefford County. The Kenisons were also from Shefford County. Does this ring any bells for anyone? Margie
Don't see any connection with my family. The Meehan's arrived in Megantic County around 1844. Married into the Mimnaugh, Hughes, Doherty, Ward, Sullivan, Cooliphan, Watts, Forbes, & Kelly families. We did have a Mary Meehan born in 1862 who married Robert Kilpatrick Jr. who ended up in Lawrence, Mass. as Chief of Police and they had a son named Robert. But this doesn't appear to be a connection unless it's a cousin. Hello again to List, On 7/14/00 I posted a query to this list seeking information on my wife's great-great grandfather who lived from the 1830's to ca 1852 in Shefford County, Quebec. His name was (Samuel?) BERRY who came from NH and married a (fnu) CHURCH. She had a sister named Cecilia Wells CHURCH who married a George Herbert Richardson 14 Mar 1838 in Shefford County, QP. Cecilia was born 1814 in Waterloo, Shefford County, QP. George H. Richardson was born 1816 in NH. Our (Samuel?) BERRY and wife had at least two children: Harriet M. and A. Dorwin, born in Waterloo, Shefford County, QP, in 1842 and 1846 respectively. We believe that when Cecilia Wells (CHURCH) and George Herbert RICHARDSON moved from Shefford County, QP to Ogle County, IL in 1852, they brought the children of (Samuel?) BERRY with them. The response from the list to our query was most gratifying. From input we received, and from IGI records, we have pieced together a tentative, sketchy, family grouping that we feel our (Samuel?) BERRY might belong to--but we haven't made a connection yet, and would like your help once again for any information or leads that might help us. This is the grouping: Jonathon WELLS m. Mary HOYT. Their son Samuel WELLS m. Hannah SHELDON. Samuel was b. 9 Sep 1730 in Deerfield, Franklin, MA, and d. 6 Aug 1786 in same location. Hannah was b. 31 Aug 1730 in Deerfield, Franklin, MA. Calista WELLS . daughter of Samuel and Hannah WELLS, married Nathaniel CHURCH. Calista was b. either ca 1765, or 22 Oct 1770, in Brattleboro, Windham, VT. Calista and Nathaniel CHURCH had three children: Harriet CHURCH, Dudley CHURCH and Hannah Sheldon CHURCH. Harriet was b. ca 1790 in Brattleboro, VT (?) and d. in Shiawasee County, MI. She m. Thomas CRAIG 19 Feb 1812 in Dunham, Missiquoi, PC. Thomas CRAIG was b. 1780 in MA, and d. 1860 in MI. Hannah Sheldon CHURCH (of Brome) m. John BERRY, (Jr.?) 2 Jan 1829. John BERRY, (Jr.?) d. 3 Mar 1854. Hanna Sheldon and John BERRY had three children: Nathaniel Church, Elhanan Winchester, and Sylvanus. We've been told that Hannah Sheldon CHURCH and John BERRY, (Jr.?) were married in the same Church of England as Cecilia Wells CHURCH and George H. RICHARDSON. Any further information on this family would be most welcome. Some questions remaining: a. What relationship might Cecilia Wells (CHURCH) RICHARDSON have to the children of Calista (WELLS) and Nathaniel CHURCH? Does Cecilia Wells (CHURCH) RICHARDSON have a sister who could qualify as the wife of our (Samuel?) BERRY? c. Could John BERRY, (Jr.?) have a relative who could qualify as our (Samuel?) BERRY? d. What is known about Dudley CHURCH---birthdate and place, death date and place, spouse, children, etc.? Could Cecilia Wells (CHURCH) RICHARDSON (or her sister who married our (Samuel?) BERRY) be related to Dudley CHURCH? Etc. Thanks once again to those who responded with such great support to my first query. Regards, Ken Shute, in Maryland (kwsroots@aol.com).
