I noticed 'Ditchland' in an Oath of Allegiance circa 1800 and only two residents signed - a William Sax and a Zelotes ?Wation? (I'm certain it starts with a 'Wa' and finishes with an 'n'). I have nothing else on that town...

    1. RE: [QC-ETANGLO] Fw: Champlain Street
    2. David J. Ellis
    3. Champlain Bvd. is a long street that runs along the south side of the park where the battle of Quebec was fought, around the end by the lower city and back to finish near the new Autoroute that runs north. As I recall it was about 5 miles long in all. Because it runs so close to lower city and the old town there are many places where he might be buried. I can't help with the rest of the enquiry - I'm not local, not even from Canada. > Is someone familiar with Champlain Street in Quebec City? > What district would it be in and which Protestant Church > would serve that area in the 1860's? 3. Hello List! Is someone familiar with Champlain Street in Quebec City? What district would it be in and which Protestant Church would serve that area in the 1860's? I am looking for the death and burial of James Lloyd, who was a teacher. On the 1851 census it shows that he and his family are living in the schoolhouse on Champlain Street. Also, would there be somewhere to write and ask for the records of people who taught school in that time frame? Thanks for your help. Carol Wright Coquitlam, B.C. cricket56@home.com

Are some Vermont records held in Canada or could they have been included in notary records and if so which ones? Janice

    2. Marcel Benoit
    3. Hi you all Notary records are the great untapped genealogy family history resource in Quebec. They start about 1608 and go right up to now. After 1880 or so the originals may not be microfilmed, before that most are available at your local Archives National du Quebec or in case of Sherbrooke, at the SGCE which was the topic of my earlier email, about 3 days ago. Marlene Simmons has an excellent article on this topic, if you have not seen it go to http://www.virtuel.qc.ca/simmons/ Basically each town had one or more notaries, and the Townships were lucky, quite a few wrote English contracts. So it a matter of picking the town, date and finding out what notaries practiced there. So I do not promise a quick answer, but thats my speciality. If you would like to know more, let me have your needs by date and town on email. Will do my best to answer within ten days. 1. [QC-ETANGLO] Nathaniel Obadiah Bunker and Lucinda Clemons
    2. Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any information on this couple or their family. Nathaniel Obadiah Bunker was born around Dec.1804 in Waterbury, Chittenden, VT. He married Lucinda Clemons (birthplace unknown) abt. 1832 in Newton Junction, Rockingham, NH. They had at least three children: Cordelia, Daniel Dominion (married Veldora Amanda Whitcher), Caroline Victoria (Hyram Hoyt Clemons) and possibly a Lucinda. Before December 1838, they moved to Bolton, Quebec, Canada. This family must have stayed in the Bolton area for sometime, because my g-grandfather Charles (Caroline's son) was also born in Bolton. Family history says that the Clemons' were definitely French Canadian and that the Bunker's where Hollander Dutch. Also, can anyone tell me what the attraction was in Vermont and New Hampshire between the years of 1804 and 1842. Caroline's father was born around 1804 in Vermont, married 1832 in New Hampshire and Caroline's husband (Hiram) was born in Barre, Vermont around 1842. What type of work was available in the Chittenden and Washington Co. areas around this time span? I think that I had heard that there were large rock quarries???? Any information would be appreciated! Regards, K'Lynn in Oregon
