Maybe others did also. They're a tough bunch to track down. I actually had about a half dozen others but they have been moved so I need to search for them again - if they still exist. As I recall, they didn't add that much to what is above. If you should run into anything to do with Medor Cahah' (Cayie/Kiyee/Cajais/Caya) - also known as Peter C. Medor of Swanton VT - please get in touch. I'm pretty sure he was born 8th May 1803 although his gravestone says 8th May 1814 - I think I can disprove the birth according to gravestone and death record. He died 25th July 1890 in Swanton. His family is reasonable well documented but I cannot locate any details on his father or his wife. The father was probably also called Medor Cahah' and the wife was Marguerite Julia St.Pitie/St.Pierre. I think he was probably either born on the St. Francis settlement and then lived in St. Regis before going to Swanton VT, else he may have been born in St. Regis while his father was living there. His youngest daughter was my mother in law's grandmother.
I need info on Elijah Thomas, Orsemus Thomas, John Allard and Abram Keniston - they were in Shefford Co., Quebec in the early 1800's - along with Berrys, Cutlers, Hayes and Savages - thanks in advance for your help! Harold
Some time ago this message was posted.....time to re-post. In July of 1867 a KERR family arrived in Quebec off the S.S. St. Andrew from Scotland. This family consisted of 5 children. 3 of these children and the parents are my ancestors. We have never been able to trace the other 2 children. Also, since their arrival in Quebec there has been no trace of them. They are: David age 13 - listed as an adult and Margaret age 9. They travelled with David & Catherine Kerr and John age 5, Mary age 2 and Duncan (David Duncan), age one. (these are my ancestors) David was a widower at the time of his marriage to Catherine Duncan on 31 Dec 1860 in Dunfermine-Fife County, Scotland. We presume that it is very possible that these children were perhaps David's from his first marriage but unlikely since the children did not appear to remain with them. Perhaps these children where a neice and nephew??? Perhaps they were simply stow-aways using the Kerr name and travelling with this family for a fee to be met by relatives and simply took on their original name on arrival??? Anyone who can enlighten me or anyone with a David Kerr b. abt. 1854 or a Margaret b. abt. 1858 in their history please contact me. I am seeking a birth and/or marriage record for Benjamin Place, born 10 Sept 1809, in Potton or Bolton, PQ. He put down both places on various records but it is most possible he was born in Potton. On the marriage application for his 2nd marriage to Sarah (Sally) Magoon Chase he gave his parents names as Stephen Place and Polly Camber. I need a birth record to give credence to this information. Also I am interested in finding a record of his 1st marriage with approximate date 1828-1830. This 1st marriage was to Phebe Judd, dau of Jule(n) Judd and Catherine Sisco. I am trying to establish the identity of Benjamin Place's father beyond the name Stephen Place. I have checked out many Stephen Place's and none seem to be a candidate. I would be interested in learning who the mother of the children one Stephen Place, widower of Bolton, had at the time he married in 1834, Hannah Magoon Randall, a widow, also of Bolton. Benjamin Place and Phebe Judd had the following children. James Anderson Place, born 1831, married Electa Ann Magoon Catherine Place, born 1835, married Theodore Nutting Mary Place, born 1837 (have not found anything about her) Benjamin F Place, born 1839, married Laura Ann Clough Sabrina Abbie Place, born 1842, married George Ramsdell Guy Butler Place, born 1845, married Salina Baraw Judson Amos Place, born 1848, married Elenor Hunter Stephen J Place, born 1850, married Alice Garvin Clarisa (Clara), born 1854, married Oscar Nutting Mary Ann Place, born 1856, married John Sweet Samuel Place, born 1860, (have nothing on this person) Anyone with knowledge of any of the individuals I have mentioned I want to hear from you, PLEASE! Further, I need the address and directives on obtaining birth and marriage records for persons born/married in Brome and Stanstead Counties. Thanks, Marlene Prouty-Domstead --part1_69.9e765ea.26e01d1b_boundary--
Good morning list. I am sorry but my limited holiday French is not up to posting this message in both languages. I am trying to find out more about any Ralston who moved to Quebec before the middle of the 1800's. In particular, I am chasing two * John Ralston who came from Ayr in Scotland sometime before 1803 (I don't know when or how he arrived) and settled at Lot 21,North Georgetown, Huntingdon County as a ploughman * Nathaniel Ralston who went from Sorbie in Scotland to Montreal about 1846 (again I don't know when or how he arrived). He was employed by Muir & Sons (Merchants) and seems to have died in 1858. With my extremely limited knowledge I contacted the Quebec list but was recommended to join this one. I have been told that there is an index for what is known as Beauharnois District and this index will include all Huntingdon people. All help and advice gratefully received. Many thanks in advance Elizabeth Leicester, UK

The family story is that my ggrandfather Richard TOPE and his brothers ended up in the Coaticook area because his ship ran aground on his way up the St. Lawrence. This was in the early 1870's. Does anyone know how frequent this sort of event was and how I might find the name of the ship? Mary

Hello listers: I am unable to find a town/village/hamlet? named Chomley -- I have searched the NRC and Federal government sites to no avail. Is anyone familiar with it? H. Ioannou
Hello We found a newspaper obituary in the family Bible of Sarah Wilson Massie- widow of John Massie Sr. The date and name of the newspaper are unknown, but from the writing we assume it was the Magog newspaper. (Sarah died Apr 18, 1918- so surely this obit was in April 1918) Listed was a son, James L Massie who was station master of the C P R . Attending the service was also Mr and Mrs A Massie. Also Mrs Wm McKenna was the granddaughter of Sarah Massie- was she the daughter of James Massie? Mrs Massie also had another son, John Massie Jr (1848-1886)-my g-grandfather, and a daughter Isabella who married Rev C P Watson. Any information on Isabella Massie Watson, James Legertwod Massie, A Massie, or Mrs Wm McKenna or their descendants would be very much appreciated. I have info on the descendants of John Massie Jr to the present day. Thank you. Paula Massie Oneal

Someone a little while ago, sent me a couple pages of The Anglo-Protestants of Megantic County 1826-1991, Repertory of Birth, Marriages, and Buriels. I am wondering if this person, or another could possibly lookup some SUTHERLAND names for me: Kenneth Sutherland b. abt 1786 Ellen Symes anglican Mary Conn(Craig) anglican Spencer Sutherland Joseph Sutherland Elizabeth Sutherland Sarah Sutherland Jane(t) Sutherland Mary Sutherland Isabella Sutherland Christina Sutherland b. 6 June 1837, bapt. 20 July 1837 Any help, no matter how small would be appreciated. I am told there is a possibility their baptisms, were recorded possibly in Leeds. Thankyou.
Hi all, If someone with a good map of Quebec could tell me where in the province PONTIAC County is located, I would be most grateful! TIA, Jane
