    1. Re: [QC-ETANGLO] Land Records
    2. Hi Karen, I contacted the Quebec National Archives today in regard to land grants, I was told that the letters, AA Grants etc., are a reference, or a finding aid used to locate the records. If you have all the necessary information (such as is contained in the Index to Land Grants) you can write to the QNA and obtain a copy of the actual deed to the property. Carol

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Megantic birth lists
    2. Just got a list of births and deaths from a Margaret Dempsey in Inverness and I notice there are two dates next to each birth - one being the birth date and the other the baptism date but why is the baptism date listed first? for instance next to Esther Duff the first date is: 09/02/01861 and the second is 05/02/01861 and this the dame for all of those listed the second date is before the first date so it must be that the second date is the birthdate ....Does anyone know why this is so listed?

Isabella Ross d/o John Ross and Catherine Morrison. William and Isabella later moved to Grey Co. Ontario and Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island, Algoma Co., Ontario. I would like to correspond with anyone searching for these families as I have a lot of information to share.

    2. Marcel Benoit
    3. That time frame mentioned below for BMD is the responsibility of Quebec National Archives and "all" these records are on microfilm. Now if your BMD is Roman Catholic, the record is usually quite good. Protestants records are moderately good for Chruch of England and decreasing quality to non-existant for others ie Baptist , Methodist etc. Local courthouses do not provide this service, its not their responsibility and are not staffed for this. See Marlene Simmons web about how to get these photocopies from the Quebec National archives in Montreal.
