Hello Listers, Thanks to Pennie Redmile for information from the Bedford News&Advocate:May 30,1902. My great-grandfather-Patrick Arthur English lived in Bedford with his parents-John and Alice English originally from Tipperary, Ireland. Are they any relation to the Mr. E. english, eldest son of George English who was going to the Coronation celebation in London. Patrick married Elizabeth Maude Witheridge of Darlington, Ontario. They lived in Bedford, Quebec before returning to Ontario. Patrick died in 1905 and is buried in St. John Norway Cemetery, Toronto. Are there any other families from Tipperary, Ireland who settled in the Bedford area? Would love to hear from you, Thanks, Barbara Di Mambro
Sorry, I am sending this to all the lists that I am on, so sorry for any duplicates that you receive. I will have a new email address tomorrow, so please do not send anything to this address. I will be signing off the list and resubscribing with my new address tomorrow. Karen Haffermehl
I am a newbie on your list. I am researching my ggrandparents (Elizabeth HOULE, and Eusebe PICHETTE). Elizabeth HOULE was born in Stanhope Quebec, she married Eusebe PICHETTE in May of 1881. I have tried to locate Stanhope,Stanstead County, Quebec in the Canadian 1881 Census but was unable to find their listing. I live about three hours north of Madison WI. so travel time cuts into research time. Would someone on the list familiar with the 1881 or 1871 Census tell me where I can locate Stanhope. For those unfamilar with Stanhope it is located just across the border from Norton VT. This is where the family settled before moving to Wisconsin. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you Ron Fisher rsfisher@dwave.net
Last summer I stumbled across the following web site: http://www.mountroyalcem.com/set_main.html I had no idea where in Montreal my John & Nell (SCOTT) RAMSDELL were buried, but about two weeks after filling in the query on that page, they notified me of the name of the cemetery (Hawthorne-Dale) as well as the lot number. I don't know if they normally search the various cemeteries or if someone went the extra mile. Either way, I was absolutely thrilled. I learned her exact date of birth (instead of "after 1975"), her husband's name and date of death, her daughter's correct name and date of death, etc. Now if I could just get a digital photo! Anyhow, you might want to give that web site a try! Hi everyone I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Possibly, the answers are under my nose and I am thinking tooo much. My grandfather, Leslie Cecil Martin was born in Sherbrooke in 1916 as was his father. Of course, there is no census for me to look up at this time frame, but he died in Lasalle in 1984. Trying to find his burial place as his parents are buried at Hawthorne Dale. No record of him there. I phoned Feron's Funeral Home in Lasalle, J.J. Cardinal in Verdun, one in Lachine and even Pointe Claire and no one has him on file. I am hoping that once I find his burial place, I will look in that area for family members of the MARTIN family. RIght now, there are so many Martins in Quebec that it would be impossible. If one died in Lasalle, and was Presbyterian where would be the closest cemetery? Maybe I should even consider his birth place of Sherbrooke? What cemeteries are there. ANY suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them. You guys are great and many heads are better than one. Thanks, Karen If I can't locate it, maybe I should find someone who will look up at the Montreal library the Protestant index card as it will tell me the name of the church that handled it.

Who was Joseph JOHNSON, who lived in Foucault in the 1820-27 time period? It appears he owned 100 acres in lot 8, Con. 6 of the Clarenceville lots, and seems to have been deceased by about 1827. Is this the same Joseph JOHNSON, who was married to Mary, and had a son Stephen born 16 Nov 1827 and baptized 16 Dec 1827 (Caldwell Manor and Christie Manor Anglican). I have not found Joseph in the 1825 census, but it is possible that I missed him. Perhaps the 2 Joseph Johnsons were father and son? Any information appreciated. Diane Brigode brigode@uswest.net
