    3. Hi Mariana, Have seen you have this book, but haven't seen that you are actually offering to do lookups. Are you offering, or were you just sending the info to the person that had originally posted the question. Know lookups can be very time consuming, so will not impose on you unless you specify that you will do lookups. I understand if you are not volunteering. 1. [QC-ETANGLO] Vosburgh Family
    2. Hello! I am new to the list and would appreciate any help doing research on this family. My 2ggmother is Melvina H Vosburgh (Fosburgh) b. 6 Oct 1828 in Allard's Manor, Quebec, Canada. She married Henry A McDonough on 16 Feb 1847 in Alburgh, Grand Isle, Vermont. I think that Melvina has a brother, George Vosburg b. in 1821 also in Canada. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that might recognize this family. Thank you so much - Robin Bowman

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Another newspaper for Missing Links
    2. Sandra Devlin
    3. Fellow researchers: Hot on the heels of The Telegram in St. John's picking up the Atlantic province's syndicated genealogy column to run weekly -- The Western Star in Corner Brook has joined the Missing Links family, too. For family researchers this is yet another great opportunity to find "new cousins" and to fill in the blanks on your family group sheets. I write a newspaper column MISSING LINKS: which has helped thousands of family researchers locate ancestors and genealogical information. Missing Links is a self-syndicated, weekly genealogy column published in 12 Alantic Canadian newspapers. Part of each column is devoted to FREE queries from family researchers, customized to the geographic coverage of each paper. Submit queries in the same form as the sample below, using a maximum of 35 words PLUS forwarding address information. Include your snail mail/regular postal address (mandatory) for readers who are not hooked to the Internet. Don’t forget your postal code or zip code. Other forwarding information also OK, but optional: E-mail, fax, telephone, etc. Forward your query to this email and please type Missing Links in the subject line. Primary coverage areas: Newfoundland - The Telegram, St. John’s, Island-wide coverage; The Western Star, Corner Brook, Bay of Islands region and surrounding areas. Prince Edward Island -- The Guardian, Charlottetown and Journal Pioneer, Summerside. Island-wide coverage. New Brunswick -- Times & Transcript, column called Family Tree in this newspaper only: Covers all of New Brunswick and extreme parts of northern NS -- but with emphasis on: Albert, Kent, Kings, Northumberland and Westmorland counties. Miramichi Leader:primarily Northumberland County. The King’s County Record:primarily Kings County. Northern Light, Bathurst, primarily Gloucester County. Nova Scotia -- The Truro Daily News: all of Colchester County, parts of southern Cumberland County, east Hants County and west Pictou County in Nova Scotia. The Bulletin in Bridgewater and Progress Enterprise in Lunenburg covers Queens County; The Port Hawkesbury Reporter: Richmond County and Bras d’or Lakes region of Cape Breton plus Guysborough and Antigonish counties, mainland Nova Scotia. ********************************************** SAMPLE QUERY O’NEILL - Who were parents of Mary Ann O’Neill (1840-1912) of Havelock, N.B.? Married Simon A. Steeves (1840-1909) of Dawson Settlement. Children: Michael, Lavenia (Eliot), Arezina (Palmer), Margaret (Bishop), Maude (Ackerly), Viola “Dolly” (Chapman). Contact: Sandra Devlin, 81 Weston St., Moncton, N.B., E1A 7B8; e-mail: devlin7@attglobal.net •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Tips: 1. Keep your query focussed and provide useful clues for your Newfoundland, P.E.I., New Brunswick or Nova Scotian “cousins.” 2. Write individual queries for different family groups. 3. Separate notes to me (Sandra Devlin) from the query itself. 4. Write out words like born, died, married, daughter, etc. The column’s readership is not always accustomed to the shorthand of experienced family researchers. 5. Write dates -- month, date, year - same logic as above. 6. PLEASE do not capitalize surnames in the text of query, only at the beginning. Looking forward to receiving your query. 3. I apologize for posting this message again but I realized that I had neglected to mention my ggrandfather's name the last time. It was Frederick Charles Garnett Hayward. According the the Police Museum in Toronto he was born Oct 1884 and was 17 when he joined the permanent forces and was still with them when he joined the toronto force. He married my ggrandmother in Halifax Sept 1908 and according to the marriage record was a telegraph operator and was born in Sherbrooke Quebec to Ruth and Walter Hayward, shopkeepers. I will be in Montreal over the thanksgiving long weekend and hopefully will arrive early enough on Friday to do some research. does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could go on Friday either in Montreal or Sherbrooke, hopfully my girlfriend knows her way around enough or I will be cabbing it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks Alannah in Toronto

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] LEONARD's in COMPTON & SUTTON
    2. Rick Leonard
    3. Grretings to all! I am beginning a search for my own roots and truely am not certain whether they are or English or French origin, as I have heard our family name spelled LEONARD, as well as LYONAISSE. The only pieces that I have to go on are: My Great Grandfather - BASIL ERNEST LEONARD (or BUZZELL E.) was purported to have been born in COMPTON on March 18, 1864 (or 1866). He married FLORENCE METEVIA (born Nov. 10, 1863 or 1865 - place unknown) in February of 1884. They had 6 children, including my Grandfather - WILLIAM ERNEST LEONARD who was born on March 13, 1889 in SUTTON. other children were: CORA b. Sept 3, 1887 / CLARA b. Sept 4, 1891 / OSCAR ARTHUR b. Aug. 10, 1892 (died in 1909) / EVA MAY b. July 4, 1894 / MABELLE b. May 11, 1899. At some unknown time they located to West Glover, Vermont, where my Grandfather William Ernest married CARRIE MARY FACTO (or FACTEAU) of Derby, VT. Their children were born between 1911 and 1927. RONALD OSCAR / CLYDE AUSTIN / MARION IRENE / HAZEL LOUISE / GENEVA MAY / ALDEN ARTHUR / My Father - ELWYN ERNEST / MAURICE MITCHELL In a recent visit to Westlook Cemetery in Glover, VT, oddly enough, I found 29 Leonards buried there including my great grandparents - who both died in 1940. Other Leonards dated back to NOAH who was born in 1750 (and apparently was born in Massachusetts). Don't know IF any of these are related. Does anyone have any info of the LEONARDS in SUTTON or COMPTON??? (By the way - my grandparents were Methodist) Thanks, Rick LEONARD _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
