    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Stanstead, Quebec/Does anyone have these names?
    2. Randall Brown
    3. After reading a large collection of letters that were sent to my gg-grandfather, Rev. Addi Lee, from his siblings in Stanstead, I have taken an interest in knowing what became of these family lines. The Rev. Addi Lee was born in Stanstead in 1816 the son of Jonathan Lee and Mary Moulton. His father would remarry again to Deborah Thrasher Morrill (widow of David Morrill). Addi's siblings were: 1.Alonzo b. 1814 who married Judith Peasley abt 1833, then married again to Caroline S. Miles in 1857. Children with Judith Peasley were Julia Ann, Jonathan Orren, Elvira Priscilla, and Charles Ernest. Child with Caroline Miles was Fred Alonzo. 2.Elvira b. 1815, married Calvin Wallingford (son of David Wallingford and Abigail Stocker) 1835. Children: Addi (d.infancy), Eugene (d.infancy) and Mary b. 1842 3.Rosina b. 1818 m. Solomon Sommers 1835. Children: Mary Susannah, Annette Rosina, Carlos, Rosa and Lousia 4. Mary b. 1819 m. Benjamin Thrasher Morrill (son of David Morrill and Deborah Thrasher). Children: Eugene William, Mary Josephine, Julia Ette, Emma and Anna. Do any of these names look familiar to anyone? Would love to hear from anyone that might have any information on these individuals. Thanks! Susan Lee Brown rbrown14@stny.rr.com

    1. [QC-ETANGLO] Root Family
    2. Michelle Amsbury
    3. The Root Family has its origin in early CT. I am not a Root Descendant but I have seen a beautifully done book , check FHL Library for a copy. Gives the early emigrants, the homelots, place of origin in England and quite a bit more on descendants. I believe it was done by the local historical society , in the 1970's or 80's. I bought a pristine copy from a sale table because I admired the way it was laid out, its excellent photography and careful research. Unfortunately for me I gave it to a Root descendant whom I thought would appreciate it even more. I made many copies of pages I liked, which unfortunately I cannot lay my hands on at this time, try finding it first, if you cannot, I will try in December . Michelle

    2. Thank You everyone for reading this information once again but with all the important information I left out. :) I'm trying to continue my search of John M. Chapman and his wife Caroline (believe she may be 1/2 Abneki Indian)in Brome county. They had 5 children from 1863-1879;Earl (my G,G,Grandfather),Edwin, Manly, John O. and Marcia. I believe they lived near Knowlton,Quebec. Earl Chapman and his wife Mary Louise lived in Eastman in 1886 then moved (?) to Bolton-est before 1890. After Earl died in 1892 Mary Louise (from Wales) left Canada and went to N.H. Thanks Again, Joyce

    2. Hello I just joined the group. I thought I would put my information out and see if anyone could help me. The Chapman's lived in Eastman and then moved to Bolton (not to far from one another). I have come to a dead in my search and gather my next step would be to find the church records and cemetery that they were buried in. I'm looking for 2 specific people who probably lived in Eastman and died there after 1891. Any way I can find this out without having to go all the way up to Canada just yet? I appreciate any help. Thank You, Joyce

    2. beth perry
    3. Danny, Thanks so much for the info. Now for the next question! I searched the LDS website as you suggested, but there is no record of the man I am looking for. Also checked Marlene Simmons database - zip. The father's burial record is listed under the Free Will Baptist Church. Although, according to Marlene, there is no indication of any strong religious ties, and no birth record in her files. What next? By the by - I would love to make the trip myself. How did you find the experience? Beth Perry Researching QC: PERRY

    1. Re: [QC-ETANGLO] how to get birth records. 1800-1818?
    2. Marcel Benoit
    3. Landry surname has two origins, one in New France and the other in Acadia (Nova Scotia today) The Acadians came to Lower Canada after their expulsion in 1750. Hence if you find no trace before 1760, this indicated the Acadian surname. All church records from 1608 to 1900 are available in the 5 branches of the Quebec National archives (One exception, the 6th ANQ, Sherbrooke has trasferred the microfilms to the genealogical society there). They will provide moderated price photocopies if you provide the exact information. They will not conduct extensive research. These microfilms are the equivalent of the Mormon microfilms in the US, its the original handwritten record. More ifo see Marlene Simmons web at http://www.virtuel.qc.ca/simmons/ If the ancestors are Roman Catholics, the is a comercial web site providing on line data up to 1799, but not after. This is the PRDH at http://www.genealogie.umontreal.ca/en/main.htm Finally family associations or the equivalent of one name studies at http://www.genealogie.com/liens/a.html may be a source. 1. [QC-ETANGLO] MARTIN-CUMMINGS-WAKEFIELD-MCCURDY-ATKIN
    2. Bonnie Robillard
    3. Have posted for this family before, but may have new people on the list, so here it is again: I am having a hard time locating the Ancestry of Thomas Martin b.? who married Sarah Cummings. They lived in Kirkdale, Durham twp, and had the following children: 1. Jane b. 1826 m. Philip LYSTER (THIS IS MY LINE & HAVE A LARGE DESCENDANCY0 2. Emily b. 1827 m. George FEE 1868 & m. (2) Thomas MONTGOMERY (Have some descendancy on this line ) 3. Sarah A. b. 1828 m. JONES 4. Thomas b. 1830 m. Ruby JUDD (Have quite a lot on this line) 5. Lorenda or Lucinda Harriet b. 1831 m. Martin WAKEFIELD 6. Edward William b. 1833 m. Esther LYSTER (In 1877 was from New York) 7. Leah b. 1836 8. Elizabeth "Eliza" C. b. 1837 m. MCCURDY 9. Henry b. 1839 10. George b. 1842 11. Esther Mary or May b. 1844 m. ATKIN of Hartford, Conneticut, 12. Albert b. 1848 Sarah Cummings died age 56 in 1858, was born in Wheelock or Lyndon Vermont and came to Canada with her parents Adams and Leah HUBBARD CUMMINGS in 1816. The local history says that Thomas Martin came up the River from Boston, US and landed on an Island in the St. Francois River. That Mr Stevens went and offered him some land, and he decided to stay. I would think it possible that he may have been married prior to this and his wife may have died, so he may have had children prior to the children with Sarah Cummings. These children, if any, I would love to hear from. Sarah Cummings also was married to a BROOKS and had a son Adams Brooks who may have married a CLAMPETT. Thomas Martin and his children were said to be of UEL Stock. Thomas Martin may have remarried. The sons of Thomas Martin, Albert, George and Henry would have been the right age to have joined the Cival War, if there are any people out there that know of the Durham Twp residents that joined up. I would love to hear from anyone that could help me with this family. Descendants would be wonderful. Thanks, Bonny
