Here are the names you requested: Henry Wilton George Wilton Thos. Wilton william Robinson William Longmor (and that is definitely the spelling!) On the off chance that the placement of names is significant (which I think it might be) Henry & George Wilton are right after each other on the first page and Thomas is at the end of the second page. The petition is two pages long with most of the first page taken up with the wording of the petition. Hope this is useful! Susan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello, You may be interested to know that Timothy WHEELER was among the inhabitants of Caldwell and Christie's Manors who agreed to subscribe to the salary for the new minister. This is from Chapter III of a book "Caldwell's Manor and Christie's Manor: The Seigneury de Foucault by Herbert R. Derick. I have done a lot of research in the Foucaul/Caldwell Manor area and I feel confident that you would be able to find a birth record for your John Wheeler among the parish records of Caldwell Manor (they could also be found under St. Jean or Dorchester) as they begin in 1815. If you have a LDS Family History Centre close to you, you would be able to order the microfilm. (I saw them at the archives in Quebec City - so don't know if their filing system would be the same). Hope this is helpful to you. Regards, Gail Beal
Hello Listers, While on there seems to be a search going on about John Wheeler. I am looking for information on a John Wheeler born abt. 1820 in Caldwell's Manor, he was the son of Timothy Wheeler and Elizabeth Sheldon, trying to find marriage and children etc. Any help is always most appreciated. Thanks, Robert Shogan

Hi Linda: I don't have YOUR John Wheeler, but I do have another John Wheeler who could be his father--John b 30 May 1805 in Caldwell's Manor who married Catherine Young 29 Nov 1825. On the other hand, HIS parents, JOseph and Hannah Brown also had sons Jacob, James, Ephraim, William and Jonathan, any of whom might have fathered your John. If you come up with anything more certain, let me know again. This is kinda dubious help, isn't it? Gloria
Linda, re parents of JOHN WHEELER born June 8, 1834 in Barnston, Quebec. He married Mania Hannah DAVIS May 5, 1854 in Derby, Vermont. They had 10 children--- Charles, Samuel, Mary, Mania, William, Ida, Alonzo, Gertrude, Hattie & Grace Wheeler. In The History of Stanstead County Province of Quebec, by B F Hubbard, there is a mention of a Wheeler family Josiah m Hannah Howe both native of Plainfield Conn. They settled in Royalton Vt (most of children born there) and later moved to Barnston Qc in 1803 (No 15th, 5th range). Three or four of children settled in Canada. Male children who could be father of your John are Howe, Weston, Elias. Sylvester is also listed, but so are his children, and none of them are named John, but this would be the right generation. Hope this helps for further research. Lorraine

Greetings All! In Oct. my husband's grandmother who was 83 years old passed away. She was a fiesty old woman right up till her passing, with red hair and a hot temper to match. At her death, my husband became the executor of the will and went back to deal with her possessions. He brought back many things, one thing of genealogical value was a document made in 1988 called "The MANNING Family of America". It was produced by a man named Jim MANNING who lives in Texas. The document starts with the arrival of Timothy MANNING from Cork County Ireland, who settled in all places, Shefford County! Timothy in his time had two wives, Catherine ALLPORT and Anna NEWTON. He produced 14 children. So if you have any MANNINGs or people related to MANNING. Please drop me an email. Kathleen BROCK Edmonton, AB

I'm looking for any information on the couple listed above. Anthony Cutler, son of Anthony Cutler and Jemima McConkey, born 13 Jun 1796 in Marlboro, VT, married Bethany Allard, born c. 1800, 29 Aug 1819, in Shefford. I would particularly like to know the parents of Bethany and what happened to the couple after their marriage -- did they move back to the states as so many did, did they move west to Ontario and beyond, or did they die right there in Shefford? I haven't been able to find a burial site for them, so I'm assuming they moved on, but where to? Any help with this couple will certainly be appreciated. Margie
Hi everyone: Leslie Nutbrown has made a correction to my transcription of one of the less legible signatures on the petition which I wrote about last night. Mimsaugh should be MIMNAUGH. And his first name is John, just by the way. Thanks Leslie! Susan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hi everyone: A while ago, I came across a reference to an ancestor of mine in an index to British military records in Canada. Heres what the index entry said: Certificate re circumstances of Thos. CARROLL, commuted pensioner from 3rd Garr. Battn., and recommendation for eleemosynary allowance. Inverness, C. E. 7-3-1853" I ordered a copy from the National Archives and it basically turns out to be a petition by a group of men from Inverness township in Megantic county to get Thomas CARROLL on to some kind of military pension charitable roll. There are about 35 signatures on it and although thats *all* there is (except about CARROLL himself) I thought people might find it useful to place their ancestors in a certain location at a certain time. Ive listed the surnames below - those with a ? behind them I couldnt read clearly and those with a * occur more than once. If you are interested in finding out if a particular person is listed, please let me know the name and Ill be happy to check for you. Bell * Campbell * Carroll Dalgliesh Garrett Hood Johnston Kelso? Longmor McCrimmon McCulla McKenzie McKillop Mimsaugh? Moffat Mooney * Neil Robinson Roe Sheridan Steele * Twohey? Walsh Ward Wark? Wilton * Young Susan ===== Susan Markanen Peterborough, Ontario, Canada http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~smarkanen/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Interested in information related to the families of the sisters Elizabeth(b.1842) and Margaret(1839-1889) Brickley and their husbands David D. Beattie and Thomas Arthur Beattie, respectively. David D. Beattie(1842-1874) and Elizabeth had at least four children: Christina Jane(1862), John(1865), Lillian May(1867) and Gilbert(1869). Thomas A. Beattie(1836-1898) and Margaret had at least nine children: Mary(1861), William Henry(1863), Betsy Jane(1865), Eleanor Eva(1868), Melvin David(1870), Melissa Ann(1873), Lorena Agnes(1875-1896), Thomas Charles(1876) and Sheldon Herbertson(1879). Of these Eleanor Eva married William Paige in 1890 in Acton-Vale and Melissa maried Alexander Kinear Grady in 1903 in Brompton. They may have also had a son Kenneth. Elizabeth and Margaret were two of the 14 children of Joshua Brickley and Mary Ann Montgomery of Durham Township, Drummond County, Quebec. At this point there is only have information on the families of two of the children: Jane Brickley who married John Lyons and migrated to St. Marys, Ontario and James Montgomery Brickley who married Annie Munro and headed to Saskatchewan. The fate of the other twelve children and their families is not clear.
