Is anyone familiar with this particular book? Quebec 1851 Census: Transcription and Index. I saw the book advertised in Amazon.com, and it is out of print. I'm curious what counties are included in it, as I have been told that many of the county censuses for 1851 have been lost. Thank you. Kathy Campbell
Does anyone know the location of (or normal name for) a cemetery referred to as "Bockville cemetery" in the Clarenceville Methodist records for 1875? Other context suggests it might be in Clarenceville, Henryville, St. Sebastien, Pike River or Noyan. As a real long shot, I'm after a transcription for Levi and Elizabeth Mandigo and hoping it contains an age or birth for either one of them. One died in 1874, the other in 1875.
Hi Jacki et al ; Thanks for the posting - I'm still stuck seeking CYRUS SPRAGUE and MARIA ____ ? The 1901 Magog Census shows the family, and I've been advised CYRUS died 1909, but having trouble confirming this @ ETRC Anglican Archives -- and I'm still stuck trying to find out when and where he was born ! The 1881 LDS says Nova Scotia, and the 1901 Census Magog says he was born in the US - and the two show differing ages, as well. Maybe there were TWO CYRUS SPRAGUEs ! Thanks, Sally ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <QC-E[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, December 09, 2004 3:26 PM Subject: SJVS 1906-1915 SPRAGUE's listed > SPRAGUE > > ARTHUR - 62 > FRANCIS - 124 > GLADYS - 118 > ORIN - 124 > SILAS - 63 > COL. The National Archives site http://www.collectionscanada.ca/8/18/r18-219-e.html shows the old Canadian newspaper issues that have been found and microfilmed. The films are poorly cataloqued [NJ.FM.755 is not a reel number] and it takes a skilled librarian to be able to order a film correctly - they have special sign-in privileges. Below are all of the bmd data that I could extract from the weekly issues of the Sherbrooke Gazette from 3 Jan.1832 to 5 Sept.1857. They have only found 5.5% of the issues in that time period and some have no bmd [as indicated by nil]. I have just ordered the subsequent films that end 18 Sept.1896 with about the same lousy hit ratio. It will be at least a month before it arrives so I am sending out this first part in the meantime. I have collected this data in an Excel spreadsheet that is only 50KB and will forward it on request if you like to be able to sort etc. HELPFUL HINT - You can change the text size on this or any html screen by using [CTRL] & [+] or [-]; or [CTRL] & roll your mouse scroll-wheel. I have also digitally filmed all of the bmd microfilmed newspaper segments and each is available on request - DON'T request via the whole list - just address to me. The images are 200KB to 500KB and vary in clarity - some of the 200KB images are awful blurry and I hope I can improve on them tomorrow before the film leaves. I am on cable so size does not bother me. [I will describe my imaging technique later. I did 65 images in less than 2 hours today - all free.] Merry Christmas, Mat.
