    1. Re: [QC-ETANGLO] Looking for ELLIS, HARTWELL AND STEVENS Families
    2. ---- Hi, I don't know if this will help. My Great-Great Grandfather was Nathan Stevens and he married Alta Maria Smith. They were both borned and died in the St Armand Quebec area.Alta's father was Rev Homer Smith and Her mother was Caroline Bush and they lived in the Dunham Quebec area. Nathan and Alta had three Children and they were Alta A Stevens, Sidney Nathan Stevens, and Orlando Stevens. Nathan was killed in a blasting accident in 1845 in West Bershire Vermont where they were living.Alta moved back to Quebec and was living in Dunham Quebec in 1851where she showed up on the census. I don't know where or when she died or where she is buried. I also don't know what happened to Alta A Stevens or Orlando Stevens but I do know what happened to Sidney Nathan Stevens. Sidney was my Great-Grandfather and the father of my Grandfather Homer Sidney Stevens who was the father of my father Sidney James Stevens. If you think that this is the same family let me know and I can send you more information. Hope this Helps. 3. Thanks for your message Regi. I think you have helped me identify an error. I show Horace born Dec 21 1798 in Hatley. You mentioned Connecticut as another location which seems to be more likely the correct place of birth for him. I don't think his father Ebenezer and mother settled in the Township for another year or two later. 3. Hi Art, I have a Hunt family from the ETs. Orren Hunt (no data) married Julia Kiser (no data). Their children that I know of are (many missing): Sophia Lydia Hunt (b. 22 Feb 1850, Barton, VT; d. 4 Dec 1927, Barton, VT). I believe she was born in Quebec, but haven't been able to prove this. Sophia married Charles Norton on 2 Nov 1881 in Barton. Charles Hunt (b. Feb 1884, Quebec; d. ??); married Berth J. ?? (b. Aug 1881, Quebec). Their children: William H. (b. May 1904), Thomas C. (b. Mar 1906), Orrin H. (b. Mar 1908), and Martha L. (b. Sep 1910). It's sparse, I know. I'm not so sure that Charles is the son of Orren and Julia, but there he remains until I can prove otherwise. Best of luck! 3. Bernie, I just ran across these records on the LDS Church's IGI database: Pamelia Wadleigh, b. Jun 1808, Hatley, , Connecticut (there is also a Hatley in Quebec, so this could be a wrong assumption); d. 18 Dec 1844; daughter of Jesse Wadleigh and Lucy Turner. According to this record, she married Horace Hovey in 1829 in Hatley. There's no birth info for him, but his death date is listed as 11 Dec 1871. There's another record for Horace Hovey, b. 21 Dec 1798, Windham, Connecticut, same death date as above. Show's him as the son of Ebenezer Hovey and Rebecca Simmons. There are numerous entries for Wright Hovey, b. 23 Jul 1833, Hatley, Stanstead County, Quebec; d. 22 Oct 1884; son of Horace and Pamela Hovey. Shows marriage to Lois Mehitable Hitchcock on 24 Oct 1860, also in Hatley, PQ. 3. I can second the advice to check these records. I thought I had already checked the available records for this area, but was stunned today to discover marriages in this new set of extracts for an ancestor and her sister. I had never known that either of these marriages occurred. Both of these marriages were second (of three) marriages for each sister, and I had previously only been aware of the first and (now) third marriages for each. Many, many thanks to David for this terrific resource and all his hard work! Marriages for residents of Sabrevois, Henryville, Caldwell's Manor, Stanbridge, Hemmingford, Farnham, Clarenceville, Noyan, St Armand, Odelltown and others are listed here. Search through all listed, not just doing a surname check -- many names are not as you would expect them to be. Always checking neighboring towns, esp. just over the border in VT, for marriages. I have also located marriages in Highgate, Franklin, and elsewhere in VT, but Alburg has always held a lot for those researching in close by ETs, like the Manors, Noyan, Clarenceville. David has put a lot of effort into the transcription and it just might have the record you're looking for. ;-) Many thanks to David for his wonderful contribution! --Pam ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to QC-ETANGLO-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message Pam Wood Waugh pam@woodwaugh.com or 730 Dunhill Drive waughp@yahoo.com Orlando, FL 32825 http://www.woodwaugh.com - Family Lines http://www.rootsweb.com/~qceastwn/ - Eastern Townships of QC Research ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to QC-ETANGLO-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I was reminded --again -- that in my haste, I neglected to put the URL for the Archives. You would think just once I could get it right! ;-) http://www.rootsweb.com/~qceastwn/archives.html --Pam Pam Wood Waugh <waughp@yahoo.com> wrote: David Ellis has continued his transcription of Alburg records from Film #27770 and the newest entries contain many marriages from that film. Please do not think that because they are marriages in Alburg, VT that they don't include marriages of those in our area. So many of my own families were married in Alburg and they lived in Missisquoi Co! Marriages for residents of Sabrevois, Henryville, Caldwell's Manor, Stanbridge, Hemmingford, Farnham, Clarenceville, Noyan, St Armand, Odelltown and others are listed here.
