    1. re:John Pyron b 1762,died Loundes Co. Miss
    2. John Pyron b in 1762, possibly S.C. may have been a brother to my William Pyron, b about 1856-57 probably in Hanover Co, Va. The family eventually emigrated to North Carolina, some records show Rowan Co, also Union Co, but eventually they settled permanently in Mecklenburg Co.Willaim married Mary Powell about 1785 and died in January 1850. William's name is on a DAR marker in Monroe, Union Co, N.C.. John also was named on a marker. From a letter John Calvin Pyron (son of William Pyron, Jr, brother to my Andrew Jackson Pyron) wrote to my grandfather Aurelius Milton Pyron, in Oct. 1902, J.C. states there were 3 brothers, William, John and Charles who came from Virginia. In a pension letter record, signed by Winfield Scott, commission of Pensions, dated 13 July 1826, the record shows there was a Revolutionary War pension claim (S-8675). It states William Pyron was born in 1757 in Hanover, Louisa or Henrico County, Virginia. He moved to Caswell Co., N.C. when he was a child. He enlisted in the spring of 1778 and served as Prvt. in Capt. Moore's and Capt. Marlboro's Companies, Colonel Archibald Lytle's regiment of N.C. and was discharged July 1779. He died 27 June 1850, leaving the following children: Mary Helms, Sarah Helms, Emilla Secrest and Jane Crowell who was a resident of Union County, N.C. in 1852. (I have an old map of Union County which shows the property owners listed where they lived in Union County. Overwhelmingly, the name Helms pops up all over the county. No wonder the present Senator, Jesse Helms, from North Carolina gets a majority vote.) >From Kermit Stell's research he found a record that John was indeed born about 1762. Children listed were: Richard B. b 1785; Robert Stoker Pyron b 18 Mar 1774 in Mecklenburg Co. an Allen Pyron married Eve Swath, he died in 1835. See records also from the Dowdle/Pyron book 1745-1976 by Mabel Smith Sykes. She lists a John Pyron and wife Delpha who had lived in several southern states. John Pyron, brother of William, was in Tennessee in 1850 cenuss. The North Carolina State Census 1784-1787, 2nd edition, shows John Pyron in Caswell County, N.C: Charles and William also in North Carolina. A Will Pyron is listed from Mecklinburg County, N.C. in 1820 Tennessee 1820 census lists Joshua Pyron in Smith Co.Mr. Stell said this supports the Tennessee Pyron branch. 1840 Tennessee Cenus: Pyron, Charles in Williamson Co. Charles, Jr. in Williamson Co Joshua in McNairy Co. Thomas in Benton Co. Sarah in Humphries Co. Ron Pyron from the Tennessee branch has excellent work on the Pyron family in a published book. I personally need his address to order the book. Can anyone give me his address? Kermit Stell researched Hatter's list of Early Settlers 1600/1700 in Virginia. A John Perrin and a Margaret Perrin were in Virginia about 1635. From the book, Passengers to America by Tuppes in August, 1635, John Perrin was transported to Virginia on the ship, "Safety." From, Some Emigrants to Virginia, 2nd. ed. a John Perin (1685 in Virginia), Middlesex Co. Records of Levona Carney of San Jose, CA from the Vestry Book of St. Paul's Parrish, Hanover Co, Virginia, 1706 to 1786 found in Virginia State Library the following are listed. p 141. ordered that Thos. Saterwhite have Davis Lyles tithes--Nathaniel Baughons, Thos. Mosely, William Boughns, William Hughes, James Piron, Jr. John Piron, John Ellis, Michael Saterwhite, Charles Piron and James Piron, Sr. tithables to assist him in clearing the road whereof he is surveyor More entires pp 57 and 233 list James and John Pyrant. In the Vestry Book and Register of St. Peters Parrish, New Kent and James City Counties, Virginia 1684-1786 Virginia State Library, mention on p 90 made of Mary Pyrant. p. 384, James, son of James Pyrant, baptz 27 April 1701.William, son of James Pirant, baptz ye 28 March 1703. p. 382 James, son of Susana Piram, baptz ye24 April 1687 It is my humble opinion that when John Calvin Pyron referred to the three Pyron brothers, John, Charles and William as settlers in Jamestown he was speaking from a family tradition--the Perrins,Pirons, Pyrants were early settlers in the Virginia colony. The James Pyrant listed from St. Paul's Parrish on p 216 possibly was an ancestor of the 3 men mentioned. It really is not a long time span from 1709 to the birth of John Pyron in 1762. In the Pension application of William Pyron in 1826 the recorder noted that William Pyron signed his name with an X. Anyone who does genealogy research soon learns how often names are recorded differently during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, particularly in the south.
