Mr. James R. Wheat, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN sent me his family records several years ago. His records are carefully made, revealing a great diligence on his part. Thomas Russell Pyron was the son of William Pyron, Jr., son of the Rev. War veteran William Pyron who died in 1850. Thomas Russell was a brother to my Andrew Jackson Pyron and J. C. Pyron who moved to Arkansas. In a letter from a son of J.C.,Alonza Pyron, to my grandfather, Aurelius Milton Pyron, dated about 1926-27 from Hamburg, Arkansas he states: "...have never seen any member of your family or in fact any one of Fathers family except the Carlocks in my life. I corresponded with several of Uncle Thomas boys for a few years when they lived in North Carolina, but later I understand that Uncle Thomas died and all his boys moved to texas. Have you ever met any of them? David, Tinsley and John were the names of three of them. Well, father died in March 1914..." Back to Thomas Russel Pyron's family. He had a son, Tinsley Phoenix Pyron who married Serena Helen Festerman in Texas. Tinsley was born in Mecklenburg County, NC. This couple had a large family, Mr. Wheat lists 14 children. One of the children was Walter Braxton Pyron, later to become General in the Army. He married first, Mamie Greer who died in San Antonio in 1951. General Pyron then married Gertrude Drach. I have the obituary for this remarkable woman, one who apparently was ahead of her time.
