I'm forwarding this message I received earlier. --Glenn Gohr (List Manager) _________ My page is a FREE service intended to be used to post and view queries about individuals/surnames people are searching for information on. My intention is to make this the most useful new site on the 'net. Please come help me and yourself at the same time! Thanks! Family Tree Climbers: a Genealogy Link-up Page Joshua Sorensen & Shana Hackett <Demon@CLDS.NET karwoski@usa.net http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/6527 Information needed for ANCESTOR QUERIES: 1. On the first line of the BODY of the e-mail put the following: SURNAME, first name, middle name (IF AVAILABLE)/date (IF AVAILABLE)/place (IF AVAILABLE) Note*: Only the SURNAME should be in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. 2. Put one line space and in the BODY of the message please identify the information that you are seeking. Provide what you can to help others recognize your listing. The size of the entry should be no larger than 4-5 lines of 80 character text. Therefore around 70 words in length. Abbreviate whenever possible the State, country, b for born, m for married, d for died, abt for about, bur for buried etc... Also, you should omit unnecessary comments such as, - looking for, in search of, want to find parents and siblings, any info, thank you in advance, any help will be appreciated, send replies to etc... Your listing is meant to attract attention by providing enough information to cause the viewer of the page to contact you. After this contact has been made - you can exchange additional information. Here is an example of the type of post we are looking for (for ancestor queries): MURRAY, (Reverend), J.T. (John Thomas?), Pastor of Methodist Protestant Church on Aisquinth Street, Westminster, MD., about 1871. Looking for names of Parents, Wife, Brothers & Sisters, and Children & Other data. My GGGGrandfather. richardm@freewwweb.com(orig. post 1/98) It tells: who they are looking for and a good description of the information they are looking for. ________________________________- Comments from Glenn: Note: The current URL for this site is: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/6527/ This week a note says they will shortly be moving to this site: http://www.familytreeclimbers.com I've known about this site for awhile, but I've been wanting to wait and see if it is legitimate or not. It seems to be a worthwhile site with postings regarding ancestors, adoption searches, etc. I haven't found any of my surnames listed YET, but then I haven't posted anything yet either. It seems like a good place to post queries and list your e-mail address for someone to contact you. The queries must be short and to the point. (And they will let you delete a message should you ever change your mind.) Sincerely, Glenn Gohr (List Manager) ggohr01@mail.orion.org

Ellen, Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, the Pyron list is including all obvious (and not so obvious) variants. The Pyron name appears to be Frenh in origin, and Perrin likely is French also and may be connected. Hello Joan, I saw your PERRINE query on the PYRON list. I posed the same question to the list not too long ago. So far no one except the listmaster has answered me. It doesn't appear that anyone else on the list is tracing PERRINES right now. I almost unsubscribed, but stayed on just in case another PERRINE appeared. My maiden name is PERRINE. Most of what I know of my ancestors comes from the book DANIEL PERRIN, THE HUEGENOT, AND HIS DESCENDANTS. I'm a descendant of Daniel and his wife Maria Thorel who both came to this country on the ship "Phillip" in 1665. Any connection to you? Sharon K. Newby Plainfield, IN newby@indy.net
RootsWeb now has the archives ready. Just go to: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Put PYRON in the space for search (or any other mailing list). Follow instructions given on the page. There are searches by key word or words which will go back to May of this year or threaded messages (all messages in chronological order) from the end of November until now. Note: To go directly to the threaded messages (Nov.-Dec.), you may go to: http://lists.rootsweb.com/~archiver/lists/PYRON-L/ It's simple, fast and easy. Here is my snail mail address for anyone who wishes to get copies of the Joshua Pyron book that I mentioned in my previous post. Glenn Gohr 1040 E. McCanse St. Springfield, MO 65803-3613 Glenn (Pyron List Manager) ggohr01@mail.orion.org
I am willing to make copies of the book that some of my relatives put together on Joshua Pyron of Caswell Co., NC who later moved to McNairy Co., TN. It mostly covers him and his descendants but has some brief introduction on the Pyron surname and sketches of other Pyron lines not yet connected to my line. This is the earliest information on my line in the book which shows where Joshua fits into the picture: 1) John Pyron, b. ca. 1750 NC, d. ? at NC; md. ca. 1768 in NC to Margery Cate, b. ca. 1750 NC, d. ? at NC 2) Joshua Pyron, b. ca. 1770 Orange Co., NC, d. aft. 1850 McNairy Co., TN; md. Susannah Kerns, b. ca. 1780 TN, d. aft. 1850 McNairy Co., TN 3) William Riley Pyron, b. 20 June 1824 Marion Co., TN, d. 20 Dec. 1907 Berryville, AR; md. 6 March 1845 McNairy Co., TN to Martha Jane Riley, b. 30 May 1824 Alabama, d. 18 Nov. 1903 Berryville, AR (both buried at Snow Cemetery, Carroll Co., AR) The book: JOSHUA AND HIS SON WILLIAM RILEY PYRON is out of print and has been for almost 10 years. I have made a photocopy of the entire book and could run it through a copy feeder to duplicate it quickly. That would run 5 cents a page. I could also get it bound for you if you wish. I know the authors, and there is no problem with this. Binding would cost about $1.50 extra (spiral binding with cardstock cover), and then posting. The book is 149 pages (8 1/2 x 1 in. size). I could copy & mail loose pages to you for $10.00 or spiral bound for about $12.00. I am making a copy for another researcher, so let me know if anyone else wants a copy. Glenn Gohr (Pyron List Manager) ggohr01@mail.orion.org
Wendy, In the JOSHUA AND HIS SON WILLIAM RILEY PYRON book, on p. 31 is listed this info: William Pyron, b. 1788, d. ?; md. Sarah Hudspeth, b. 1797, d. ?; Issue: eight girls and 4 boys. The oldest boy listed is Jackson H. Pyron, b. 1815 AL, d. ? ; md. Hannah Rea, b. 1816, d. ?; issue: 5 girls, 4 boys & maybe more. William above was the brother of the Allen Pyron that was mentioned in the earlier posting. Willilam and Allen are sons of John Pyron, b. 1762 in NC or SC, d. ca. 1838 Lowndes Co., MS who md. Delpha Stokes, a Choctaw Indian. I believe more information on these lines is available in the book: DOWDLE-PYRON FAMILY TREE by Mabel S. Sykes, 207 Sykes Road, Grenada, MS 38901; ph. 601-226-4122 (cost= $10.00 in 1987). Don't know if this address is good anymore or if the book is still available or not. Hope this helps. From the book: JOSHUA AND HIS SON WILLIAM RILEY PYRON, by Virginia PYron Snyder, et al, 1987, p. 31 I find the following: John Pyron, b. 1762 NC or SC, d. ca. 1838 Lowndes Co., MS; md. Delpha Stokes, a Choctaw Indian One of their children was: Allen Pyron, b. 1790 SC, d. 1835 MS; md. 16 Nov. 1814 Lincoln Co., TN to Eva Swath, b. 1806, d. ? (Allen was in the Creek INdian War in the 2nd TN Militia, wounded in battle on 9 Nov. 1813 near Talladega, AL.) One of Allen and Eva's children was: Michael Pyron, b. 1815 Lincoln Co., TN, d. ? ; md. in 1839 at Carroll Co., MS to Tabitha Taylor, b. 1821 AL Not all of the children of Michael and Tabitha (Abitha?) are listed--only a brief outline of the family is given. If anyone needs more, let me know. Some of this line of Pyrons is listed in a book called DOWDLE-PYRON FAMILY TREE by Mabel S. Sykes. I do not have this book and do not know if it is still available or not.
