Vol XV, 1772-1774: Corry, John, Charles County, MD will pr 15 Oct 1772 lists JOHN PILE as witness. PILES, LEONARD of Prince George's County will dated 19 Mar 1773, pr 21 Feb 1774 mentions children: FRANCIS PILES, ANN TOWNSEND, ELIZABETH DRANE, MARTHA HANEY, ELEANOR BERRY, LUCY SMITH, LEONAR (sic), PILES, REBECCA PILES and ELIZABETH PILES the younger. (yes, he has two daughters named Elizabeth, perhaps one is a stepchild); grandson LEONARD PILES, son of Francis. Round, James of Worcester County, will dated 24 Nov 1765, pr 31 May 1774. Petition filed to Judge for Probate Court for wills setting forth that dec'd James Round signed his will in the presence of three witnesses and two of them died in the life of the dec'd. The third, SAMUEL PILES, the only surviving witness, is a resident of the city of Philadelphia. Request made to take his deposition. (His deposition confirmed the will.) I found the following entry in Baltimore County Families, 1659-1759: JOHN PYLE and his wife SARAH, conveyed 50 acres of Pyle's Addition to RALPH PYLE of Chester Co Pennsylvania in Sept 1755. This would indicate that there was some contact between the Pennsylvania Pyles and the Maryland Pyles or perhaps this John PYle came to Maryland from Pennsylvania and is not closely related to those we think of as Maryland Piles.
