<< Anyway, our (my husband's) first ancestor that we know of came to New York about 1699. Hia name was Richard Pyle. His son William PyleI died fairly young but he had two sons. One of which (also Wm. Pyle II) came to Maryland. His son (Wm. Pile III) was in Rev. War and received a grant. He came to Breckinridge County Ky. and this is where we are. A majority of his children and descendants stayed here but a few of them went elsewhere. To Indiana, Illinois and to California. One in particular went to Sacramento in 1846. Does any of your ancestors fit into this pattern. Hope to hear from you. Shirley Pile >> Dear Shirley, As far as I know, all of these guys spelled their name PILE. I descend from the other of the two sons mentioned above, Richard Pile, who married his cousin, Elizabeth Sprigg. The PILE spelling remained in our line until it reached my grandfather, Thomas Pendleton PYLE, born May 3, 1892 in Adair Co., Kentucky. His siblings remained PILE but for some reason, unknown to us, his name changed. My grandfather left Kentucky for California as a young man, marrying my grandmother in 1917. They lived in Bakersfield, Kern Co., California. Welcome to the list cousin! I'm new too. Vicki Ringer, Woodland Hills, California
