Reference is from "Hist. of West VA." by Callahan, page 549. Also from the "Bluebook" page 432, John Pile, born in Pennsylvania in 1791, died in 1860 in Clinton Co., IN. He married Margaret_______, (Knable?) born 1797 in PA. Family stories say he came from PA. to Ky. and then to Indiana. Some members of the family say he came from Somerset County, PA., There is a possibility that this John Pile is the son of John Pile 2 or Jr. on page 320 of the Casper Pile Line (Note) This is very confusing, but here goes! The first son of John Pile and Margaret______ was Anthony Pile, born 1-23-1830 in PA. and died 7-22-1907 in Teetersburg, IN. Anthony married (1) Louisa Smith, from 1856 through 1865, (2) Elizabeth Bittner between the years 1867 through 1874, (3) Nancy J. Bridgett who died in Tipton, County IN., 4-5-1928. In 1857 Nancy Bridgett married Washington Idle and 15 months later he died, there was one son born to this marriage, Three years after her widowhood, she married David Knable and he died. In 1878 she married Anthony Pile. On page 320, thhere is a full layout of the Casper Pile Line. The children of Casper Pile and Catherine_______, were 1. I, like Frances Bruce, am a descendant of Michael Pyles and Martha Burley Pyles. Michael was born (April 23, 1814) in Pennsylvania and migrated to Virginia. He married Martha Burley who was born (May 14, 1820) in Virginia. Both Michael and Martha are buried in the Jolliffee Cemetery at Silver Hill, WV. I am a descendant of their son Felix Pyles, d.o.b. 10/26/1835. I am attaching a transcription of Michael's "Last Will and Testament". Perhaps someone will find this of interest. I believe Michael's father to have been John H. Pile, Jr. who married Margaret Knable. Anyone having information on either of these individuals, I could use your help. I believe John Jr.'s father to have been John H. Pile, d.o.b. 8/17/1775 in Hagerstown Maryland. He married Cathorin Dull about 1812 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Again I am accepting any information you are willing to share. I believe John's father to have been Casper Pile (Pfiles) who died about 1808. This is where my research has come to a stop. This seems to be a prolific group and I am sure we are going to be able to help each other.
