My PILES/PYLES line came from North Carolina to Bartholomew Co. Indiana abt 1838. The mother of the group was name ELIZABETH SIMPSON at the time although I do not know when the marriage to SIMPSON took place. Most of the family marriages seem to take place in Guiliford Co.but I believe they lived in Orange Co. because of the names on the Census records. The six brothers were: 1.George Pyles b. ca 1805 married Sarah RHOADS 1832 Guilford Co. NC 2.Wiley Pyles b. 1804 died 1864 Decatur Ala. Civil War. 3.William Pyles b. 1807 married Mary M (Mallie) RHODES Guilford Co. NC 4.James Pyles b. 1809 married Hester PYLES (cousin) Orange Co. N.C. 5.Moses Pyles b. 1817 married Susannah RHOADS Guilford Co. NC 6.Enoch Pyles b. 1819/20 married 1sr Sarah Ann KNIGHT 2nd Emma FRENCH both in Bartholomew Co. Indiana. The Piles/Pyles brothers started purchasing land in Bartholomew Co. in 1839. Two of the brothers list children as being born in Kentucky on the 1850 Census. The name was spelled PILES on all documents until about 1865 when it is changed to PYLES. There is a family named PYLE living in Edinburg Indiana, just a few miles north of Columbus. I do not believe they are related, however they did marry into the same family surnames. My uncle Floyd BREEDEN [desc.]was descended from that family.
