I have noticed several posts about Francis Piles. In 1850 census of Hampshire County, VA, now WV, a Francis Piles appeared at age 68 and lived near Kirby with Samuel Ruckman, possibly a son-in-law. Census said he was a laborer and born in Maryland. Francis was born November 1782. Historical records of Old Frederick and Hampshire Counties (VA) by Dr. Wilmer Kerns said, "Francis Pyles diedon March 16, 1872 in the Hampshire County (WV) Poor House, aged 89 years, 4 months. Source: The South Branch Intelligencer, Romney. Francis lived with Samuel Ruckman. John Piles married Elizabeth Ruckman, March 13, 1824. Elizabeth's parents were Samuel and Sussanah Ruckman. Who is this Francis Piles??? Was he a brother of Zachariah Piles of Hampshire County??? Francis was an unusually name for the Piles family.
