Dear Pyle Cousins: I've been overwhelmed recently by all of the information flying around on our dear Pyle / Pile ancestors. Tonight I decided to make an attempt to do something about it. While I consider this ONLY A BEGINNING and I'd like to have a LOT of input on the finished product, I think we may have to resort to something like this: http://www.bright.net/~buzmeyer/pyle/index.html I also envision a huge descendant chart of the PYLE line as it is documented from the first John on down - at least down through maybe 8 or 10 generations. And, woe is me, some of us are as yet unable to link to these notorious men, thus, the query section which will identify where each of us are chipping away at that "stone wall." While the query pages on the GenWeb pages I'm hosting don't have any requirements for the query format except to keep it as brief as possible, I think we could better serve each other and new Pyle researchers by maintaining a specific format in our queries. I'm not saying the one I've posted is the "perfect" format either. But I think it will be helpful to all of us to show our lineage as we know it, and a short paragraph about the information we are searching for. It might also be fun to include a quick sentence telling how we are related to each other. Okay cousins, time to get our thinking caps on. Please look at this small attempt to organize our "good stuff" and tell us all what you think. I'm open to any and all suggestions. If we want to try a few more submissions, I'll gladly add some to this - and in the process we can decide on the format we want to ultimately use. Also, if we get really ambitious, we will need some server space. I think we could accomplish this by using a little here and a little there. Most of us get free server space with our subscription to our internet providers. If you don't know how to upload pages, I think I can upload to any server and directory as long as I have a correct password - except for AOL. Another alternative would be to attach files via e-mail for several of us to upload to our own servers. In order to build a stupendous Pyle page, it will take efforts from many of you - and knowing the amount of great information everyone has been sharing, I think we can all work together to do this. Maybe we need a committee...??? No doubt there will be some points that will call for a decision one way or the other...perhaps a committee voting on issues would be helpful. We could also include some text files about the history of the family members. That would really be interesting. One thing I always try to keep in mind is that once it's online, people may take it for granted that it's documented fact. So I try to be very careful to point out what is fact and what is speculation. Thus, if we begin an all inclusive descendant chart, we'll have to be careful to post only what we know for sure, and add the speculation in our queries. I'm getting really tired...that's why I'm rambling. I'm going to bed...but I'll expect some comments (yea or nay) tomorrow.
