(Page taken from a book, but does not give any info:) PYLES (PILE) FAMILY GENEALOGY VINCENT GODFREY PILES Vincent Godfrey Piles -born-? died - in Essex Co. Va. m. ca 1710 in Essex Co., Va after Oct. 10, 1709. (Inventory of estate records Dec 20, 1742 in Essex Co., Va) Married Rebecca Harwar (she was a widow of Thomas Hines at time of marriage to Vincent Godfrey Pile (or Piles). Rebecca Harwar was the daughter of Samuel Harwar of Essex Co., Va. whose wife was Anne Killman. (Harwar also spelled Harware and Harroway). Anne (Killman) Harwar was a daughter of John Killman and Margery ?. ISSUE OF VINCENT GODFREY PYLES a. Samuel Pyles (Piles) born - died ca 1787 in Essex Co., VA. Will probated June 21, 1779 in Essex Co., VA.; married in 1746 (Nancy or Nanny) Mrs. Anne Williams (a widow) (not sure if she is Reuben Pyles mother or if Samuel Pyles was married before) Anne, widow of Richard Williams of Essex Co., Va. b. Conradus Piles c. John Piles,b. - Died 1757 d. Ludovicus, b.- died 1761 in Essex Co. Va. ISSUE OF (a) SAMUEL PYLES aa. Reuben Pyles, b. ca 1742/1745 in Essex Co., VA. near Hobbs Hole on the Rappahannock River. Died ca 1835/40 in Abbeville Dist., S.C.. married Ester (Hester) Rochester, b. ca 1752 in Westmoreland Co., VA. (issue of 15); died ca 1812/14 in Abbeville Dist., S.C. (Marriage Bond dated 11/13/1770 in Granville Co., N.C. In 1772 Reuben Pyles lived in Granville Co., N.C. and he served in Rev. War as a private in the Abbeville Co., S.C. Troops. He and wife buried at Little River Church Cemetery, Abbeville Dist.,S.C. Ester (Rochester) Pyles was daughter of John Rochester and his wife Ester (Hester) Thrift. Ester Rochester Pyles' brother Col. Nathaniel Rochester founded city of Rodchester, N.Y. Ester Thrift was born 9/6/1726 and died 1773 married ca 1740 to John Rochester, (b. ca 1708 and d. 11/1754.) Ester Thrift was a daughter of Anne Gower (pronounced GORE) (b. ca 1700 and d. before 4/24/1775) and married before 1727 to William Thrift (born 9/20/1699 and d. 1776) Anne Gower, daughter of John Gower, (b. 1684 and d. 9/26/1726 and married before 1714 to Ester Greene, (b. 1684 and d. before 10/11/1714) William Thrift was a son of Nathaniel Thrift (b.-d.-) and his wife Elizabeth Parsons (b.-d.-) John Gower was son of Francis Gower, Jr. (b.ca 1657 and d. after 1687) and married before 1678 to Anne Clark (b. 1657 and d. after 1678) Francis Gower, Jr. was son of Francis Gower, Sr. (b. ca 1632 and d-) married before 1655 to Mary ? (b.- c. after 1655) Ester Greene was daughter of Richard Greene and his wife mary Meads (Meades). Mary was the daughter of Thomas Meads. The Meads, Hobbs and Greenes all probably lived in Lancaster or Old Rappahonnock Co., Va. Nathaniel Thrift was a son of Nathaniel Frith (Thrift) of Old Rappahannock Co. Va. and his wife Elizabeth --who later married a William Davis. The records indicate Mary Meades married Richard Hobbs. Her daughter, Anne, (presumably Hobbs) married Richard Greene. Elizabeth Parsons was a daughter of Anne ap Thomas and her husband John Parsons of either Richmond Co. or Elizabeth City Co., Va. Ann Thomas parsons later married Anthony Robinson who died in 1727 in York Co., Va. Anne ap Thomas was the daughter of William ap Thomas and his wife Elizabeth. William ap Thomas and his daughter, Anne ap Thomas Parsons Robinson and wife were born in Wales, B.I. (British Isles) William ap Thomas was a Burgess from Elizabeth City Co., Va. Ester (Rochester) Pyles was an Episcopalian and Reuben Pyles was a Presbyterian but due to lack of respective churches they became Baptists.
