Allen b June 23, 1831, Feb 2, 1907 Emma Allen Apr 23, 1835, Nov 30, 1907 (Paul Anderson said she was dau. of Lewis Pyles & 1st wife Catherine Perrin. Pyles Manuscript by Paul Allen). Reuben Pyles was b in Essex Co, VA in 1742 and d in Abbeville District, SC in 1835. He married in 1771 "Polly" Mary Esther Rochester (1752-1811) and moved from VA to NC. He was living in Granville Co. NC, 1772 when his oldest son, Abner Pyles was born. Prior to the Rev. War. He moved to Laurens District, SC and from that co. he entered the Rev. Army as a private in SC Militia. Sometime after the war he moved to Level Land, Abbeville District, SC where he died and is buried at the Little River Church Cemetery. He was father of 10 children as follows: 1. Abner Pyles b. June 9. 18772, m 4 times and had children by 2 of his wives: Elizabeth Shackelford and Susan Hatter. He kept a diary which is now in possession of Mr. S.A. Salley, Columbia, SC, former director of the Historical Commision of SC. 2. John Pyles m. Ruth Jones 3. Elizabeth Pyles m. Abner Nash 4. William Pyles m. Elizabeth Rosemon 5. Nancy Pyles m. George Barmose? 6. Sarah Pyles m. William Dotson 7. Mary Pyles (1789-1862 m. in 1810 John Clinkscales (1778-1858) 8. Essie Pyles m. 3 times, Isaac Beckwith, David Davenport, Stephen Douglas 9. Reuben Pyles m. Elizabeth Hayes 10. Lewis Pyles b in SC m 1. Catherin Perrin dau of Wm. Perrin (d. 1811 Abeville Dist, SC) & his 2nd wife Susannah Kellum m. as 2nd husband, Wm. Cunningham. Among children of Lewis & Catherine Perrin Pyle were Mrs. Lucas Allen & wife of Dr. Smartt (?).
