Doris: Thanks for the help! To be sure I understand Ms. Herring (I don't have the book, do you know where I can get one?), there were four brothers: (Brothers 1) William Rowan 1821-1899 Henry L. 1824 Francis M. 1826 Charles H 1849 or (Brothers 2) William Rowan 1821 Francis M.. 1826 Joel L. 1825 Henry L. ca 1824 Brothers 1 group were listed as possibly the children of your Nicholas 1794-1897 and Brothers 2 group were listed as possibly the children of John 1770-74? Interesting, because William Rowan named one of his sons John Henry, another Francis Marion, another Thomas Lafayette, and his youngest was Alfred T. Others were Andrew Jackson Pyle and William W. Pyle. One of his grandsons was named Samuel Jackson Pyle. Also, my grandfather's notes reflect a Leonard Pyle and Rebecca I. Pyle lived in Arkansas. Leonard has marriage records there. He believed these might be the siblings of William Rowan, but apparently not! Thanks for the help! In your research, have you ever run across the name "Seaborn"? My g-grandfather was named David Seaborn, and named my grandfather Ernest Seaborn. Maybe this unusual name could be a link to somebody?
