To those on the list that are AOL subscribers: I know there have been problems with the mail recently. It has become a topic of discussion between listowners due to bouncing mail and other problems. The following is a post from the owner of the COMBS list. I don't know how many of you have experienced all of these problems. I do know that all of you on AOL had bouncing mail in the past week because I receive all of the notices. Sara ************** Within Just the Past Week Alone, AOL'S Mail Processor has: (1) Converted a 495 byte Email from combs-l@rootsweb.com to a File Attachment (2) Converted a 645 byte Email from combs-l@rootsweb.com to a File Attachment, BUT the Only Reason that the File Attachment was only 645 bytes was that AOL CORRUPTED the Email and DELETED part of it, including the Address and the Header. (3) Converted a 27kb Email from combs-d@rootsweb.com to a File Attachment and DELETED Half of the 16 messages in it (4) Delivered a 23kb Email from combs-d@rootsweb.com SIX DAYS LATE! There are Many More Examples of AOL Problems with Email since their latest Upgrade which is Definitely a Downgrade... the above are only a Very Few Examples. However, as a result: (a) I am copying this email to AOL'S <postmaster@aol.com> and henceforth plan to forward to them Each and Every Email and/or File Attachment that is Corrupt and/or Delayed. (b) I am posting a message to AOL'S Email Message Board of Each and Every Email and/or File Attachment that is Corrupt and/or Delayed. (c) I am requesting that each of you who are AOL (almost half our list) please do the same (d) I am posting to the RootsWeb List Owner's List and asking the over 1,000 other RootsWeb Listowners to please also post a version of the above to Each of their Own Lists. If AOL does not correct the problem Quickly, I will begin preparation to move our COMBS &c. RootsWeb Pages en masse to another Server, and will advise all, of course, if/ when that move takes place. I/we need this like we need a Hole in the Head. It HAS to come to a Dead Halt Now, and that won't happen unless we all turn into Squeaky Wheels in Urgent Need of Grease! <snip>
