Hi Joan, My mother-in-law is Andrew Piles' granddaughter. Her understanding is that he is the son of Daniel Mitchell Pyles and Mary Catherine Miller. After Mary's death, Andrew left the family home and moved in with his grandparents, who apparently "adopted" him. Andrew drowned in the Monongahela River the day his son Clarence was 13 (August 12, 1905) according to my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law also believes that Andrew Piles was somehow "English", which would obviously mean he wasn't in this family line at all. I think that's kind of unlikely. Beth
