Another Pyle Line: Georgia to Arkansas William Rowan Pyle (1821-1899) m. Parmelia Ann Ward (1828-1875) in Floyd County, GA in 1844: Born in Georgia: Narciss Jane Pyle b. about 1846, married David Perritt b 1816, had five boys Andrew Jackson Pyle aka Jack 1847-1919, married Mary Ellen Madlen b abt 1849, one child, then married Susan Rebecca Kemper b abt 1850, had four children William W. Pyle b. 1849, married Emily A. Kolb Vinson b abt 1846, one child Mary Elizabeth Pyle b 1851, married William Louis Bailey (Louisiana), six children John Henry Pyle b. 1854-1921 (my g-g-grandpa) married Mary Sallie Kemper b 1855, five children William Rowan Pyle and family left Georgia and moved to Arkansas around 1854. We believed he was in trouble in Georgia and had to go. He was one of the early settlers of Columbia and Union Counties in Arkansas, near the Southwest corner of the state. We have been unable to establish the parents of William Rowan Pyle. He may have had a brother, Leonard R. Pyle, who came to Arkansas with him. Leonard may have returned to Georgia after fighting with William Rowan. William Rowan was a Confederate War veteran, a country doctor (aka Old Doc Pyle), a farmer, and a justice of the peace in Arkansas, marrying tons of people, including many of children and grandchildren. Born in Arkansas: Susan Virginia Pyle b. 1856, married Jim H. Gatlin b abt 1863, four children James R. "Jim" Pyle, b 1858, married Martha Greer, one child Alethia Ann Pyle, b. 1862 (raised by Parmelia Ann but daughter of William Rowan and Emily A. Kolb Vinson), Alethia married William H. Gatlin, two sons, then married Hiram Braswell, one son Thomas Lafayette Pyle, b 1862, married Amy V. Davis, ten children Francis Marion Pyle, b 1865, married Minnie Lee Lawrence, twelve children Robert Lee Pyle, 1868-1876 George Pyle, 1871-1882 William Rowan Pyle and 2nd wife Harriet Susan Ayers (1839-1878) One Child: Alfred T. Pyle 1877-1964, married Annie Pickering, two girls William Rowan Pyle and 3rd wife Mary Jane Evans Neyman (no dates yet) had no children, but I have a few of her children from the Neyman marriage. My information came from my grandfather, Ernest Pyle. He kept dubious notes over the years, and before he died he wrote two books. The first was about him, the second was about William Rowan Pyle and his descendants. Our family published the first one for his friends and family. He died in 1993 and asked me to finish the second one for him the day before he died. The second should be published this fall.
