Rita; Dr. John Jr.'s son, William was born around 1773 and married Elizabeth Kirby in Kentucky. Their Son William was born in Christain County, KY. around 1800 and he married Hannah Standlee. This William was one of the first ministers in the Christian church in Perry, IL. The story I put out about Dr. John came from Howard Pyle's bluebook, with some from Homer Pyle's "Colonel John Pyle and his people." Also in Howard's bluebook is the letter from the "Revolutionary Papers, Hall of Records," Annapolis, Maryland. Box 13, folder 7, original letters and history. This letter was dated April 26 deals with the capture of John Piles and his son when they first became "Regulators," Obviously they must have escaped. Dr. John Pyle Jr. was severely wounded just prior to the time that he and his father surrendered to Captain O'Neal. John Pyle Jr. was a Captain in the British Cavalry. Captain John was captured several times during the Revolution, but always managed to escape. The reference for these can be found in the D.A.R. Patriotic Index, pg. 552 also, "Dodson, Dotson, Lucas, Pyles, Rochester and Allied Families," by S. Emmett Lucas.
