    1. Eureka!
    2. Dear Cousins, This is going to be rather long and involved so if you don't want to read it, I'll understand, but you might get something out of it. As many of you know, I have been working on this John PYLE(S) line of WV for many years with spectacularly poor results. I kept running into the same records over and over again. John married to Sarah or Catherine. Last week I told you that my father-in-law, a lurker on this list, had sent me a copy of a his father's, Z. Taylor PYLE(S),marriage license that showed Jack (not John)as father. Of course, I know that Jack is sometimes a nickname but I did not know that the man had ever used that name. I may not have told you this. About two weeks ago I was taking Z.Taylor's PYLE(S) Bible to be re-bound. As I looked at it I discovered an old funeral program from the 1950s for a lady named Dora Bell DAVIS. I inquired on a W.V. list that I belong to, if anyone knew who this lady was and was contacted by some DAVIS researchers. In the meantime, my f-i-l told me that Dora Bell's maiden name had been TETRICK and that she had reared at least one of the children that Z.Taylor and Viola TETRICK had after Viola died in 1904. To make a long story short...one of the DAVIS researchers wrote me today and she had the records on John, aka Jack PYLES and his marriage to Ann Eliza WATKINS, 29 Aug. 1875. She was his third wife. This was the same John I had been running into all of these years and rejecting that it couldn't possibly be him because he was too old. Well, he was 63 and Ann was 24 at the time of their marriage. This demonstrates that you should NEVER have some set idea about ages and also that the smallest piece of paper stuck in an old Bible may have some significance. Will do the line in a separate post. Just had to share this with y'all! Sara pyle@airmail.net
