Harry, My great grandfather, J.J. Pyle, was a member of the Trinity Guards Militia Unit from Precinct No. 7, Kaufman Co., Tex. on 24 Aug 1861. This unit was then placed on reserve with the 13th Texas Cavalry Brigade on 3 Sept 1861. I 've found only one battle that took part in, the Battle of Pleasant Hill on the day before the big Battle of Mansfield (LA.) I have not been able to find much more on this unit. Hopefully your Library's records might contain something new for me. One thing I found very interesting (and maybe unusual) J.J. had brothers, brother-in-laws, cousins from Lamar Co. Tex. and DeSoto Parr., La. all in this unit. I almost had a heart attack when I found the microfilm roll! Thanks for the look-up offer, that's what makes this group so special.
