I am of the Coonrod/Conrad Piles line and have yet to see a proven connection to Ernie Pyle. I've seen wishful and creative thinking but the pieces don't fit together. The Aaron Pyles book has a short summary of Ernie Pyles life, but no connection is made to the family. If there is something else out there, I would be interested in seeing it. --Stephen Pile (<-Cline<-Walter<-David<-Johnson<-Jacob<-Coonrod) ----- Original Message ----- From: Jack Pyle<mailto:sherlock@terragon.com> To: PYLE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PYLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 13, 2004 8:11 PM Subject: RE: [PYLE] Pile/Pyle Family Research in England Hi Connie, If you're related to Ernie Pyle, then you're also related to the Coonrod Pile/Pyle family of TN!! I believe Ernie Pyle is a direct descendant of that family. I have a book about the Pyles from TN and if you're interested I can tell you who Ernie Pyle's folks are etc. They spell the name different than now though, it got changed from Pile to Pyle. And that's what makes the search so difficult. I have census records that are spelled Pile and then got changed in the late 1880s. I have been researching the same family and am somehow related, just can't make that final connection either. :( Nancy Pyle Oregon -----Original Message----- From: Connie Carnes [mailto:ccarnes@horizonview.net] Sent: Friday, March 12, 2004 12:55 PM To: PYLE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PYLE-L@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [PYLE] Pile/Pyle Family Research in England Hello Fran, I have a John Pyle born abt 1815 in Ross County, OH. Steve, I have not connected to the Coonrod/Conrad Pile/Pyle line yet, and maybe will never, but my husband, Don, is definitely a direct descendant of Ernie's gggrandfather, William. Don's mother and Ernie were third cousins, as their grandfathers (Ernie's being Robert b. 18Feb1800 and Beatrice Pyle Carnes' being Harrison b. 13Nov1813) were brothers, and sons of William and Mary. William bought lands in Ross County, OH, in 1805 and his son Harrison, grandson, Robert Newton, ggrandson, Given Elwood, gggrandaughter, Beatrice Pyle Carnes, ggggrandson, Don Carnes and family, all were/are Ross Countians. Don's family, as far back as he can remember, knew they were related to Ernie but didn't know exactly how until we ran the line back to William and his sons, Robert and Harrison. I hope I have this worded correctly. If I can help you in any way, or produce info, please let me know. Hello, Since we are talking about Famous Pyle's, may I ask if anybody ever studied the line Howard Pyle(artist/illustrator) comes from.
