Thereafter, in William PILES' 1832 Orange Co NC will, he names son Joel PILES. Lots of these Orange Co NC folks wound up in Indiana (predominantly Bartholomew County in the middle of the state) by the 1840s and 1850s. Joel C. PILES/PYLE (c1811?->1850?) married Mary Ann LIVINGSTON 1 MAR 1840 in Dearborn Co IN. He is possibly Joel PILES in 1830 Frankfurt, Franklin Co KY, p.112, though he might have been a little young to be a household head in 1830. Need to see that record.. (A brother - I believe - Jeremiah PILES was living in Franklin County KY for the 1850 census.) Likely Joel C. PILES in Dearborn Co IN in 1840, p.87, which fits the 1840 marriage record nicely, and Joel C. PYLE_ in Carroll Co MO in 1850, bc1811 NC, with Mary Ann, born c1813 IN, with George W. PYLE (born c1843 MO), and Jerry (Jeremiah?) PYLE (born c1847 MO). There is also a Harriet __THURN (born c1847 OH in the household. (Her name was partially obscured by tape on the original. Any idea who that was?) [Confusion factor:] But there was a Joel PILES whose estate administration is recorded in 1846 in Hamilton Co OH, just across the river from KY. That's another record I'd like to see. This is the raw material you have to work with. There may be some Joel wires crossed here, but I think your ancestor's records are hiding in there, and I'm pretty sure he goes back to James PILES of Orange County NC. Can you share any later records you might have for this Joel and his heirs? For example, when and where did he die? Jim Smee Pittsburgh PA
