19 June 2000 Dear Ron, I just returned from vacation and found the message below. No, the story is similar, but the events are not the same. My great-grandfather, Curry S. Pyle, who was born in 1873 had a liason with my great-grandmother, Minnie (maiden name not known to me), who became pregnant in 1896. Her family in Geneva was shocked beyond belief (as you might imagine in 1896 in a very small village farming community in Indiana!) and were even more put out by the fact that she married Curry Pyle. After two years, he seems to have abandoned her and to have gone to Florida, where he resided most of the rest of his life. The family story is that he did try to reconcile with my great-grandmother, Minnie, at some time (when, I do not know); however, her family remained adamant about no reconciliation taking place. Minnie, meanwhile, married my step-great grandfather, Jim Krause, with whom she remained until she died in Indianapolis in 1941. I knew my step great grandfather very well when I was young, and remember him fondly. He died in 1970 at the age of 94. He was quite an old codger who had a third grade education, but several patents on things (including an automobile jack!) which he invented. He was a remarkable man, though I can imagine him being a bear to live with as a husband!
