Saw your note on the PYLE Rootsweb list. Benjamin Pyle is my wife's g.g.grandfather. We have traced Benjamin and Nancy back as far as their marriage in Morgan County, IL but we were unable to establish who his parents were. I have been researching this family along with Peggy Sue Pyle, a distant relative of my wife. How did you establish that Benjamin is the son of Nicholas Pyle JR. and that he was born in Christian Co., KY? One of the things on my list of items to do is to obtain a copy of the 1840 and 1850 census for Cass Co., IL and search for any PYLE and GISH families. There are no PYLE families in Morgan Co., IL on either census. However, in 1837 the northern portion of Morgan Co. became the southern portion of Cass Co. There is an Abraham GISH that owned several parcels of land in southern Cass Co. I believe that Nancy "might" be one of his daughters. Another researcher believes that Nancy was a foster child, born in Germany, and took on the name of her foster parents. Around 1846 Benjamin and Nancy moved to Delaware Co. Iowa. Prior to 1870 the family moved to Lawrence Co., MO. Benjamin died in 1875 and Nancy died in 1905. Both are buried in Fairview Cemetery near Marionville, MO.
