I was in the third or fourth grade when Ernie was killed and got the news via the Weekly Reader. My father denied any relationships to anybody and it was not until 1995 that I found that Ernie's father and my grandfather were first cousins. I visted Ernie's memorial last week in Dana and was very impressed with the presentation there.
