According to my notes Alford was not a son to Coonrod, but a grandson. One source I found was 36567.FTW (Family Treemaker). Alford is shown as born in 1806 in Kentucky, Frances is 9/4/1822 unknown. According to this source, there were 8 children of Alford--Hettie A., Daniel Boone (I have found other lists that do not show Daniel as a part of this line), Len, Harrison, James, Hester, Henry and George. According to this source, Alford was the son of Daniel W. and Mary Atkinson. Daniels father, of course, was Coonrod. My long established line is Coonrod, Jacob, Johnson, David, Walter and Cline. Daniel was a brother and very close to Jacob. This internet group can be very confusing because there are at least two lines that dominate the discussion. The most active seems clearly out of England (Nicholas, John et al) and the other line just "appears" out of Tennessee (Conrad/Coonrod). The former is linked to upper class, the latter are the long hunters/explorers/runaways/adventurers. If the two families are linked, it would be back in Europe, long before the America stories. One theory for linkage would be that both lines came from Germany (the Pfeil, Peil, Piel, Poyle, Poile names), one stopping in England, the other later coming directly from Germany to fight with the English.
