Jim, I have put J J Poill's death certificate and marriage certificates on my website at http://www.thorntongale.org/Genealogy/J_J_Poill/J_J_Poill.htm. His death certificate says he was 102 years old at the time of death. I've never believed this since it doesn't track with the earlier ages he gave in the census. The photo is from many years before his death. The first census J. J. Poill shows up in is the 1880 census where he stated he was 42 years old (i.e., born 1837-8). His age in the 1900 census is 67 years old (born in 1832-3). His age in the 1905 military census was 77 years old (born 1827-8). His age in the 1910 census is 83 years old (born 1826-7) and in the 1920 census he was 93 years old (born 1826-7) I'm really glad you (especially) are interested in this case - I have admired your posts greatly especially those concerning Nicholaus Pyle and Mary Ann Westbrook. Best regards, Thornton Gale Thornton, Have you found a 1928 State of Oregon death certificate for Jackson POILE, and if so, how old does it say he was? And who were his parents in that record? I'm a little suspicious of a 97 year old who looks like a 67 year old. And I'm a little suspicious regarding the claim that Jackson was born in 1827 (age 97 in 1924), the third of four children, when his parents(?) were married in 1831. Fascinating story. Still thinking. Jim Smee
