Hi Stephen, Owen Pinckney Pyle was born in Ozark, Ark 12/13/1867 and died 12/19/1919 in Mineral Wells, Tx. He married Mildred Suzanne Gibson 12/21/1890. They had five children to reach adulthood (3 died as infants or very young children). The first son, was my father, Charles Weaver born in Alba, Tx 12/19/1892 and died in Houston 1/10/1941. My aunt, Genevieve, who is still living - retirement home in Houston, wrote her thesis on her father and I have two other Pyle or Pile books -"Coonrod Pile The Long Hunter" by Aaron Pyles and "Its a Long Way from Stone Henge to Angels Camp" by Ron Pyle. Both books have various Coonrod tales. I am interested in any information you can give me .Mary Lee
Jesse Wilson and Gabrilia Parmelia Keller must have had a very large family of Pile/Pyle descendents. David Pile was Jesse's brother and my Great Grandfather. One would assume they visited with each other in Arkansas. Your mother was Minnie Pearl Witter, correct? Who were your brothers and sisters and did they live in Ozark also? What was thesis about? Do you have the Sergeant York Book by Sam Cowan, 1922? I purchased one in an Ebay auction some time ago. There is a whole chapter devoted to Coonrod. Also there is Segeant York, Last of the Long Hunters by Tom Skeyhill, 1930. And the movie "Sergeant York" with Gary Cooper (academy award) is still around, and includes Parson Pile and his store. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Lee Gunberg<mailto:mgunberg@iopener.net> To: PYLE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PYLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 03, 2004 8:11 PM Subject: [PYLE] O.
