    3. My mother was Minnie Pearl Witter, born near Belton, Tx 2/22/1899. She and my father Charles Weaver Pyle were married 4/2/1921 in Belton. My grandfather and father owned the Belton Journal - a weekly newspaper still in business. After O. P. died my father sold the paper around 1925 and moved my mother and me (10/20/22) to Houston.Charles Witter Pyle born 12/29/1929 and Harold Pyle born 12/19/1932 and died 6/30/1990. Both of my brothers were born in Houston. Charles lives in Beaumont, Tx now. He and Ida McFaddin have 3 children and 9 grandchildren. John Gunberg and I were married 8/26/1944 and John died 11/30/2002. We had no children. Genevieve Pyle Demme wrote her M.A. thesis on the life of her father, O. P. and it was approved by Rice Institute. (O. P. and family moved to Belton from Mineola, Tx in 1911) Family legend has it that Konrad Poyle was born in Germany in 1745, came to America with his parents at the beginning of the revolution - stories also say Konrad fought for freedom in his new land. He settled in N. C. after war and married ? in 1745 and began to raise a large family. His name was changed by his neighbors to Conrad Pile because that is how the German pronunciatiion of Konrad Poyle sounded to American ears. Didn't mean to write this much - just kept on keeping on... Mary Lee Gunberg

    3. Dear Mary Lee, Your account about your family was certainly very interesting. Thank you. Also, the legend of Konrad Poyle. Do you suppose then, that he could have been grandfather to the "Coonrad" Pile of Kentucky and Sergeant York fame? Keep up the good work.
