Jim; The group sheet I have on Wiliam Pile lists Lucretia's death between 1805-09 and William marrying Nancy Keyes in 1811. This information also advises that William and Nancy had two children following their marriage. These children were Lucretia Pile born in 1812 and Harrison Pile [No Data.] I believe that the only William Pyle marriage we found in Kentucky was that of William Pyle and Polly Jones in 1801. It was thought to be the real marrige date of William Pyle and Mary Jones whose first son Zachariah was born in 1799. This whole Pyle/Pile thing is starting to drive me a bit daffy. I tend to believe that my family came from the Francis Pile, Maryland bunch because of the resemblance my family has to that family. Also the mistakes that Howard and Jane have in their fine book concerning Zachariah on the bottom of page 212 that continues through to page 488. Is it a mistake? Nobody has ever challenged it that I know of. I also believe that there is a relationship between Richard Pile, William I, William II and the William III we are referring to here. there was an association between Edward Gant Pile and my great-grandfather William Pyle after they came to California. My next search is going to be in San Jose [a two hour drive] where I believe my great-grandfather William is buried. California History tells us he was buried in Santa Ana which was a long way out of the families range in 1890. I am laying odds that the biographer made a mistake between Santa Ana and Santa Clara that threw me off the trail for many years. Thanks for the response. I only have about 700 pages of notes concerning the Pyle family. The biggest laugh I had lately was when some one on a Genealogy chat room wrote that Pyle was such an uncommon name, I had to correct her by explaining how many of us there are and every other one was named Robert or William. Jim, you were responsible for a letter once that explained the hereditary foot disease of Zachariah Pile. My daughter and 16 month old grand daughter both came down with blisters all over last month. They live in the very hot central valley and her doctor doe not know what causes them. I can't get my daughter to talk to her doctor about it, I guess she looks at what I have been doing here all these years as some kind of voo-doo. Anyway, I'll start checking my notes for another Pyle-Jones marriage in Kentucky. I guess one of the curses on genealogists is to find you have a Smith and or a Jones in the family.
