    1. [PYLE] Re: William Pyle & Lacretia Grant Keys
    2. I wanted to share some information that I have found in researching William Pile and Lacreta Grant Keys. The information I found was at the History Center in Frankfort Kentucky. I located an article titled "History, Washington County", by O.W. Baylor, January 16, 1936. It states: "William Pile, Born about 1764, and whom I take to be the eldest of three and possibly four brothers who came to Ky at or about the time that Washinton County was formed, was a resident of the town of Springfield from about the time of its establishment until the day he died in the Year 1807. Besides his property in the town proper, he owned a plantation of considerable acreage bordering on the southwest limit thereof. It appears that he divided his time between his town property and the country estate." It goes on to state that he was appointed overseer of the a road in Springfield, an early trustee of the Town of Springfield and William was associated in the management of the town's affairs with Felix Grundy. Felix Grundy was a statesman and United States Senator fro Tennessee. William Pile was also a Justice of the Peace and a member of the County Court. He resigned this position May 2, 1803. "William Pile married prior to the formation of Washington County. His wife's given name was Mary, as is evidenced in numerous deeds and in the settlement of William's estate. That William and Mary Pile were the parents of several children is evident from the settlement records but their names are not given. William Pile died in November, 1807." I have William Pile married Lacreta Grant Keys 1784 in Virginia, daughter of Humphrey Keys and Sarah Hall. Then William married Mary Polly Janes in 1801. I have children listed for William Pile and Lacreta as: Edward Grant Pile married Rosannah McMahon Thomas Pile married Polly Cromes Francis Henry Pile married Elizabeth Hartley Sally or Sarah Pile William Pile Lucretia Pile Henry G. Pile Harrison or Hanason Pile Margaret "Peggy" Pile married Nathaniel Orme Mary "Polly" Wright Pile married Jacob Pearce In William Pile's will his last name is spelled "Pyle". His will was written on December 28, 1814 and proven on February 20, 1815 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. In his will, (which I have not seen the original, this is from a book called "Wills of Breckinridge County") it states: "In the name of God Amen. I William Pyle being weak in body but of sound mind and memory blessed by Almighty God for the same do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, towit first I will and bequeath to my wife Nancy Pyle..............." and so on. I don't believe that my information will help to solve the mystery of William, Lacretia, Mary and Nancy. But I do hope it helps someone. Thanks, Jennifer
