Thanks for sharing. Our stories are nearly the same with a few corrections or edits. Feel free to dispute..... 1. Harrison was the son of Lt. William Pile and Nancy Keys (his second wife) 2. I am uncertain who your Sameul Pyle is! Was the your great grandfather William the son of my Lt. William Pyle? 3. Actually, Edward sent his son Edward Gant Pile, Jr. to rescue the Donners. Edward and Mary Ann Graves were the first marriage in Sutters Fort. Married by Sinclair. Their marriage certificate once was on display at the fort. I have a copy of it.... 4. Sutters personal diaries reference Edward Sr. on several occasions. 5. Edward Pile Sr. apparently lead 3 wagon trains during his life. 6. Thomas, Edward Pile's other son, was also murdered over a argument with hired hands "over a remarks made about a family member." 7. There are several accounts Edward's involvement in the Donner Party. A couple state that Edward got into a heated argument with George Donner over the route to take over the Sierras....leading to their split. 8. A Tombstone at Oak Hill Cemetary refers to the Pyle-Whiteman Party....not sure who Whiteman is but I think he was a son in law. Thanks.... Dan Pile
