Hi Leslie and Jim, I don't know if I'm grasping at straws here, but this is my line of thinking..... Hib's father was Carter (Scogeris, I was told by either my dad or an uncle). Hib's wife, Emily's grandmother was Ura Pyle, one of William and Hannah Pyle's daughters. One of Ura's brothers was Carter (S.), b.1832-34(dates from both the 1850 census for Carroll Co., Arkansas and the Illinois IGI, possibly 1850 also.), and I'm trying to find out if this is Hib's father. I might just be chasing my tail :) Leslie, I believe that you wrote that Hib's father died in Kansas when Hib was six, which would have been around 1970. Was there any other info on Hib's parents from the census records that you have found? I haven't gotten that far yet. Did he have any siblings? Just curious! According to the 1880, 1900, and the 1920 census, Hib was born in Kansas and his father was born in Illinois. According to Hib's death certificate he was born in Missouri. I am inclined to believe the census records as they are consistent. Hib's date of birth is October 2, 1864. I don't know Carter's date of birth but I think Treece had written 1834.
