Has anyone on the Pyle list thought of setting up a site where we could share and compare our Pyle ancestor photos? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2001 1:20 PM Subject: Re: [PYLE] Andrews AFB, Forest Grove Meth., Bells Meth., Bethany Christian > Dear [email protected] and Lani, > > Please keep me posted on any information concerning this line. That is a fantastic idea. There is a classic photo of Ernie Pyle during WWII - he's wearing a helmet with a Lucky dangling from his lower lip. Today I came face to face with a large version of this image and another portrait of Ernie in the hall at the National Press Club. He and one of my older brothers could be identical twins (the resemblence is so strong it is creepy). The resemblence also was very strong between Ernie and my father (and other members of our family) as well. Ernie (as far as I know) has never been convincingly connected with either Nicholas, Robert or Ralph. My father always said Ernie was a third cousin - that the Indiana Pyles and the Sullivan County, Tennessee Pyles were branches of the same tree. I haven't been able to make the connection. My first American ancestor was Daniel Pfeil (Pyle), who came over from Germany in 1754. We're descended from Daniel's son George (my father's great-grandfather), who moved south from Pennsylvania around 1823. I believe Ernie's line is from one of George's brothers. I believe there is a Daniel Pyle in Ernie's line referenced in the "Blue Book." I had a copy but since it mostly deals with the English Pyle families, I gave it to a contractor who re-did my bathroom, a Robert Pyle who is descended from one of the three brothers from Bishop's Caning (Robert, I believe). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis and Vickie Stewart" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2001 5:19 PM Subject: Re: [PYLE] Andrews AFB, Forest Grove Meth., Bells Meth., Bethany Christian > Has anyone on the Pyle list thought of setting up a site where we could > share and compare our Pyle ancestor photos? > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2001 1:20 PM > Subject: Re: [PYLE] Andrews AFB, Forest Grove Meth., Bells Meth., Bethany > Christian > > > > Dear [email protected] and Lani, > > > > Please keep me posted on any information concerning this line.
