    3. Hello Lists, I just returned to the list after a move. Good to be back doing my research instead of unpacking. Today while looking at the Prince George's Co., Marriages I found something interesting. Marriages, Prince George's County, Maryland, 1777 to 1886 http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/md/princegeorge/vitals/marriages/mariag04.txt JONES, Anne Richards & Richard Piles 1-27-1806 And I double checked to see if the submitter may have made a typo, but found the same info.... http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/md/princegeorge/vitals/marriages/mariag05.txt PILES, Richard & Anne Richards Jones 1-27-1806 ANNE RICHARDS JONES has always been given as the 1st wife of WILLIAM H. PILES. Has anyone seen this info before on ANNE RICHARDS JONES marrying RICHARD PILES? Does anyone on this list have the entry/source for WILLIAM H. PILES AND ANNE RICHARDS JONES marriage? Anyone seen one? Any thoughts? Thanks, Shirley Middleton-Moller

    3. James, I'll send this information to the McDonough Co. Historical Society and add a query to see if anyone around might know something. They just came out with their News Quartely so it won't be until the next one. I'll check with Western Illinois University IRAD also when I get a chance to get over to Macomb. It's 150 west of here so have to plan a trip when convienent as we both still work. How can I get copy/ies of what you found on the two deeds? Thank you for all the conversing with me on my ancestors. Kathleen (Stoneking) Cooper in Rantoul, IL ----- Original Message ----- From: JamesSmee@aol.com<mailto:JamesSmee@aol.com> To: PYLE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PYLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 9:55 PM Subject: [PYLE] Lewis = Joshua PILES (1850 Greene Co PA) To Kathleen COOPER: Late last year there was some discussion regarding the enumeration of "Lewis" PILES [age 45, born PA] in 1850 Perry Twp, Greene Co PA. I offered my speculation that "Lewis" was, in fact, the known son Joshua of Zachariah PILES of Monongalia Co VA/WV. Over the Christmas holiday, I had a chance to go to the Greene Co PA courthouse and learned some things. 1. There is no entry for a Lewis PILES/PYLES/PYLE in any Greene Co land, probate, birth, death, or Orphans' Court record. 2. There are some land records for Joshua PILES "of Perry Twp, Greene Co PA" and Mary, "his wife". The latest of these are two deeds from 1850 wherein they are selling land. It is significant that in both instances, they appeared at the court house to acknowledge the deeds. That tells us that Joshua and Mary were residents of Greene Co, specifically of Perry Township, well into 1850, such that we would have expected them to show up in the 1850 census. (They didn't, but "Lewis" and Mary did.) 3. There is no record of this family after 1850, consistent with the idea that they migrated to McDonough Co IL, or thereabouts about that time. Your ancestor Lavina PIALS (PILES) married there in 1851. Her spouse (STONEKING) had emigrated from Greene Co PA a few years before that. Kathleen, I don't think there's any doubt that Lavina's father was this Joshua. I am hoping you, or a contact you mentioned, will have a chance to do a similar search in McDonough Co IL court records to see if JOSHUA PILES makes an appearance there around 1850 or 1851. Would thoroughly enjoy reading a posting about what you might learn there. Best wishes, Jim Smee Pittsburgh PA

    2. Sharon It would be nice if people kept better records, just for people like us. I checked the big blue Pyle book that Howard T. Pyle wrote and did not see any Colvin, Scharder or Havnes listed in it. This is a great book even though my husband is not in it. but his fathers cousin Lloyd Pyle information was in it. His wife is the one that got me interested in researching the Pyle family, they went to the Quaker church here in Richmond, so I'm sure that Howard Pyle was in touch with them. I see where Albert Colvin lived in Meade, Kansas. I wonder how close that is to Jewell City, Kansas. or what use to be Jewel City, My husbands cousin, Phoebe Pyle Dawes told us that there was someone in the family that had land there for any of the Pyle's could have land if they would come there. Her father Elmer Pyle and his mother Phoebe Pyle were the only ones that she knew of that took advantage of the free land. Phoebe' husband had already died from what I gathered from Jim's cousin Phoebe when we visited her, My husbands grand mother Cora Reeves Pyle was born and raised in Marion, Grant County, Indiana, so maybe Charles (Jim's grandfather) met her there while visiting relation. I had not found any of her family living in Richmond. Lets hope someone else will see our e-mail and help us out. Thanks for the obit shirley

    2. Sharon I have looked through my records and I have a Sarah Pyle, but she married John Starbuck. here in Wayne County. IN. This is very interesting that Sarah was born in Wayne County, IN. New Garden Twp. That was Newport, now Fountain City, IN. There are several Pyle family members buried in the old Newport Cemetery, Newport Cemetery is on US 27, just north of Fountain City. The only Pyle that settled here in Wayne County was Isaac Pyle and he came here with his wife's family, the Addleman's. in 1826. That is the only one that I have found records of. Isaac had a farm in Franklin Twp, near Whitewater, IN. One of Isaac's brothers may have been here long enough to have a child, then moved on. Isaac's father was Ebenezer Pyle, he lived in West Caln Twp. Chester County Pa. I have a copy of his will. Ebenezer had several children. they were: Stephen John - married Betty Davis he died in Muskingin County. OH Isaac - married Orpha Addleman (my husbands line) Thomas Samuel Susanah Mary - married John Austin Mary died in Lafayette, Tippecanoe,IN. Elizabeth - married Caleb Way Addleman children by second wife Sarah Clark Joseph Sarah I know there are Pyle's in Portland, Jay County, Indiana also Do you know who her father was? Shirley
