    3. Someone on our list, in Oklahoma I believe, is using a spam cop called io2online or something like that. Every time a message is sent to PYLE-L, I wind up with a "challenge response" from this company in my administrative mailbox. In order to keep from losing my marbles, would the person using this service please contact that company and tell them that PYLE-L and RootsWeb are not spammers. Please, Please....thanks Sara

    3. Hi Connie, If you're related to Ernie Pyle, then you're also related to the Coonrod Pile/Pyle family of TN!! I believe Ernie Pyle is a direct descendant of that family. I have a book about the Pyles from TN and if you're interested I can tell you who Ernie Pyle's folks are etc. They spell the name different than now though, it got changed from Pile to Pyle. And that's what makes the search so difficult. I have census records that are spelled Pile and then got changed in the late 1880s. I have been researching the same family and am somehow related, just can't make that final connection either. :( Nancy Pyle Oregon -----Original Message----- From: Connie Carnes [mailto:ccarnes@horizonview.net] Sent: Friday, March 12, 2004 12:55 PM To: PYLE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PYLE] Pile/Pyle Family Research in England Hello Fran, I have a John Pyle born abt 1815 in Ross County, OH. 3. I also have a John C Pyle (my gr-great-grandfather) that was born in Wayne Co., Oh., April 6, 1838 and died Oct 25, 1926. (He also fought in the civil war and got a pension) He also had brothers; Andrew Jackson Pyle, born Mar 8, 1829, Philadelphia, Pa., Robert Pyle, born Aug. 10, 1830, Philadelphia, Pa., George W Pyle, born April 5, 1837,Wayne Co., Oh, and one sister Martha Pyle, born Dec 1833, Oh. They are all buried in Jay, Adams and Wells Co., Indiana. Their father was Robert Pyle, born August 10, 1799 in NJ. He died April 7, 1865. He was married to Mary Ann Leslie born June 14, 1801 in Pa., and died May 14, 1871. Both are buried in Wells Co., In (On Roberts death certificate it states his mother was Mary Ann Sisson!) I have also hit a dead end with Robert! Any help would be appreciated! If fact, there was a dedication to the Pile Building in Geneva, Indiana on January 10, 2004. Here is a brief synopsis of the dedication: THE PYLE BUILDING Built in approximately 1895 following two major fires in downtown Geneva, the Pyle Building was part of the holdings of local entrepreneur George W. Pyle, who owned several plots of land within the small community, commissioned his namesake building in the Romanesque Revival and Italianate tradition of architecture. Over the past century, the Pyle building has served the town in many ways-as the home of several dry-goods stores, a furniture store, a photography studio, a millinery shop, an exercise business, grocery stores, a tavern-and even, for a time, a worm farm. Some of the building's first tenants were the 2Ikes General Store, Hamma Furniture and Undertaking, and the Globe Restaurant and Bakery. Some long-time residents will recall the building as Chew-s Garment Factory from the 1930's - 1940's. In 2000, the Pyle Building, rundown almost beyond repair, was purchased by the Geneva Proud organization with as eye toward renovation. In late 2002, the Town of Geneva obtained an Indiana Department of Commerce Community Focus Grant to renovate the building as a community center and town hall. _______________________________ Gerry Del Rio 4911 Top Royal Lane Jacksonville, FL 32277 904-725-8753 gldelrio@bellsouth.net -----Original Message----- From: Connie Carnes [mailto:ccarnes@horizonview.net] Sent: Friday, March 12, 2004 3:55 PM To: PYLE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PYLE] Pile/Pyle Family Research in England Hello Fran, I have a John Pyle born abt 1815 in Ross County, OH. 1. [PYLE] England Researcher
    2. Okay, I have heard from our researcher in England, Mr. Simon Neal, and he has agreed to undertake the task at a cost of 15 pounds per hour for an initial 6 hours totaling 90 pounds. At the present time, this is about $ 25 per hour for 6 hours or $ 150. I am sure we will have other expenses for copies and/or photographs and postage, but let's get started. Anyone interested in these references, go to www.a2a.org.uk/ and click on the search engine. When the search page pops up, enter "Pile" and hit search. You will be presented with many hits for different records, scroll to the Berkshire Records Office and click on "hits". Here is where you will find the references. Steve Thrasher Louisville, KY

    3. Steve: I would also like to join (unless the bookkeeping is already getting too much for you). I am looking for ancestors of John Pyle (1818-1906) but these records may eventually turn out to be useful in my research. Don't have information yet on which Pyle family is related to this John Pyle.
