Here is what I know about William and Mary Pyle, Robert and Martha Malone Pyle. My ggg-grandfather William Pyle was born 1775/76 in PA. He married Mary Jones(Janes?) in late 1700's either in Penn. or Vir. William and Mary are parents of Zachariah Pyle, Robert Pyle, Thomas Pyle, Sarah Pyle, William Pyle, Harrison Pyle and John Pyle. There were six other daughters that remain unknown. They settled in Ohio, Ross County. Zachariah and his family travelled to Fountain County, Ind. My gg-Grandfather Robert, b 1800 in VA. travelled to Eugene Twp. Vermillion County Indiana after marrying Martha Malone in 1822 in Ross County Ohio. While I was at the library today I recopied the Index for the Virginia 1820 Census even though it is reproduced in H.PYLES Bluebook. The thing that caught my eye was that in the PYLE bluebook there is only one Zachariah listed, in Hampshire Co. The record I copied shows Zacheriah (sic) in Monongalia Co. Are these father and son? The same ones that were in my post a few days ago re: Zachariahs will in 1840? The will was filed in Monongalia and Green Cos. for the elder Zachariah as stated in the bluebook. Was the son in Hampshire in 1820? BTW, there are three John Piles/Pyles listed in three different W.Va. counties as CSA soldiers. Sara

Hi all, In checking our membership roster, I see that we are now at 37 subscribers. Only a handful of us have actually posted our lines or most wanted ancestor. It will benefit everyone on the list if we do so. As you know, the net is a wonderful tool for making contacts and getting leads, but there is still no substitute for research in libraries, courthouses, etc. Documentation is so important. Also, remember that people do make mistakes. Just because some dates are carved on a tombstone does not mean they are accurate. In my PYLE line, I have photos of gravestones that the dates do not match the records. So, do not become discouraged when dates in your own research are off somewhat. In checking locations, find out when the county came into existence. Some counties were carved out of others depending upon the state. Some states were carved out of others. Be aware that spelling of the name can vary too. Keep an open mind about it and check all the possiblities.
