Jennie, Welcome to our "group". I hope you enjoy being a part of it as much as I. Wish we could get others from our 'southern Pyle's branch to join in soon! We have so many unanswered questions, there just has to be someone out there that knows something that we don't! Talk to you later, Doris
I am a direct descendant of Richard and Lavina Piles. Richard was born somewhere in North Carolina in 1804. He and Lavina are both buried in the Price Cemetary about 2 miles outside of Redford, Missouri. There are many other Piles buried in this cemetary. Some of which were born somewhere in Illinois. If anyone has any information regarding Richard Piles or would like information on those buried at the Price Cemetary, let me know. Thanks Roger Scott bigblkvet@aol.com

Hi All! We want to welcome our newest PYLE list cousin, Randal Mortimer! When you have time, please post an introduction of yourself and what branch of the PYLE/PILE family you are researching. We are so glad to have you join us. Sara pyle@airmail.net
Hi, Cousins! Does anyone have access to this book ? A HISTORY OF MONROE COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA written by Oren E. Morton, published by McClure Publishing Staunton, VA -1916 The PYLES listings are on page 393-394. Would love to know what it says about the PYLES in WV! Thanks for checking! :) Rebecca
This note is from Bobi that was inadvertently sent to me instead of the list. It is in regard to Rita's notes. Does your William Henry Pyles b 1875 have bro and sisters? I have one in my family line, and the birthdates could possibly line up with one another....What part of Mo? whatever you have on him would be most helpful! Bobi Doman Tacoma WA
Here is a letter I posted to Liane and forgot to post to the list which I think is very important. This has always been a mystery to me why John and Mary settled in N.C. and their son and his descendents ended up in my ancestors part of Indiana. Maybe some one else can fill in these gaps for me. This is where genealogy and history come alive, cousins. I could see the image Mary's words evoked, and felt like I WAS THERE. It would be interesting to hear about other Pyle landmarks, homes etc.,. and whose line they tie into. Anyone else have any reports of genealogical trips that may edify us in our search? When I hear stories like Mary's, it makes me want to get movin' and start doing hands-on, physical travel and research. Sometimes that's just what we need to be doing! I think I'll start consulting my maps.................. Keep diggin'! Rebecca :) Mary wrote: Well, now with at least two revelations of the Wiltshire/ John Pyle/ Mary Withers connections. It's breathtaking and charming in that area. Just up the road the "white horse" that was commissioned by John's son Robert Pyle (brother to the Nicholas that you cite) is highly visible. (and I hope you all know the story of the thieving runaway artists is still alive and well repeated among the local villagers). I was awed and stunned as I approched the graveyard to witness a wedding of major proportions exiting the church. This was truely an experience I'll never forget. Dear Bob, I am searching for the Voss surname as a favor to my mother-in-law. She came here from Bremen Germany in 1951. Whenever I get a bite on Voss or Ellinghausen, I talk to her on the weekends about it. She lives in Salem, Ore. and we talk then. She is a very thrifty German lady and only believes on talking on the phone on Sunday. Regardless who is paying for the call. An interesting side light to this conversation has to do with my searching for Andy Rooney's history. Andy was a tent mate of Ernie Pyle in Africa and I was looking for comments from him. When I searched the 'net' for information concerning Andy, I came across a website about the "Writing 69th" a group of correpondents flying missions on our bombers during world war II. It was an unbelievable story seen through the eye's of a bomber surviver, the Luftwaffe pilot that shot the B-24 down and the owner of the farm where the plane crashed. This happened with-in walking distance of my mother-in-laws farm and is a vivid memory of the war for her. Her maiden name was Ramke and the farm is still in the family. It is at a place called Oldenburg. It really was a small world then. Any way thanks for letting me ramble and keep a sharp eye out for my gggg-grandparents from VA. or PA. I'll let you know about Voss! Talk to you later.
